Description
A total of 6 hours straight. Many people will pass this, comment to themselves that it's a border collie and move on. People that take the time to read this will see different.This is Cody, a family dog. Loved and adored; and like what most of us do in the morning, he was let out to clean himself, only to come back after hours, unrecognizable. Covered in lighter fluid and then set alight, two young girls watched as this family pet yelped in agony at being burnt alive.
Not thinking much of their beloved pet being a bit late coming back, when they seen a black figure race past the window, they thought it was a stray.

He was slowly making progress, despite his pain he was fighting, but he went down hill, and died Sunday.
This was in the morning, bright of day, like any other day and a family lost their dog cruely, and I know some of you will go 'It's just another cruelty case. ' If people can do this, how safe is my Rogue when I let her out in the morning? How safe is Kim when she runs off to play with the school children? How safe is YOUR dog when you routinely let them out for a run in the middle of the day?
Cody is one of thousands that's lost their life through our hands, if our kind can do this to an animal, who's to say they won't turn on their own?
Everyone is trying to get the word out to find these people, and to get justice, justice for Cody.

He never goes round the front without somebody there (like dad washing the car or us all getting ready for a walk)
so awful that people could do this to such an innocent animal- but it also shows that you should be careful where you let your pets stray. Until such cruel people are off the streets, I can't let my dog onto them. Roads aren't the only threat to a dog these days.

Thats pretty fucking disgusting. Although, if you let your dog out for a run, you should only let it out in your own yard or a park if you're watching just because it can be stolen, cause a problem, traffic hazard, etc. It's better if you can watch them while they're running around, it's not safe to just let them loose on their own (not just cos of twisted people, but anything)

I just saw the picture and read the post. I feel like too many people look at animals as lesser beings. Many people feel that animals do not have feelings, do not experience the same pain as us, and have no souls. I am a firm believer that every living thing on earth can experience pain and does have a soul. Whether it is a small fly or something large like a Elephant. The fact that people do heinous things such as this and still think in the way I stated above really makes me question our society. I am against animal cruelty, so I will favorite this image.

HOW can people burn such a beautiful animal? How can they burn a dog, looking in his eyes?
This story is really sad.... And yeah, now we have to be afraid also for letting our dogs out....

letting everyone know Cody's story, the pictures, and your own tribute to him-which is very beautiful btw<3- it creates a sense of awareness of what's going on that we don't get to see. I think its a very traumatic image to ever think of but we always learn from such experiences if we live out them.

You did a wonderful job portraying the beauty of Cody inside and out even after he was so horribly manipulated. This is a very sad occurance and people like this should not be allowed around any kind of animal. Thank you for sharing this story, maybe it will bring awareness to those of us who do not understand.

i actually once watched a video on a terrible website (god knows why i went on there) where a group of people held down a small dog and did the same thing. except in a video, you can hear the dogs cries, and SEE how cruel it really was.
the dog wasnt as lucky to stay alive for very long. he burnt alive in only 2 minutes.
the worst part, listening to the group of people laugh.
it sickens me to no end, and brings tears to my eyes how people are capable of such insanity. why not just do it to a human baby, if youre willing to do it to an animal? to me, there is no difference. if you wouldnt to it to a person, dont do it to an animal.
my prayers go out to this family. i cant imagine the pain theyre going threw right now.

I think I know what video you're on about, the dog was a little white and brown puppy. ;u; I couldn't stop crying when I seen that video, I really couldn't. The little guy was screaming even as the petrol was being poured all over him.
Thats what I always believe, and thats why I feel there should be a stronger penality than just a fine for something so horrible.. As this. If someone can do this to an animal, there's so telling how safe we realy are.
I don't even want to think, I only hope they're getting support for this horrible event.

yes! ohgosh, i cant believe someone else has watched that video...it was so terribly sad.
and i completely agree with that. the courts take animal abuse lightly. maybe not as much on tv..but thats because those judges are paid to make sure they do the right thing for the tv show. real life, judges dont really care, and its sickening to know people are getting away with it ]:

I heard about this story about Cody too, I do not understand how some people could be so cruel to him D: I remember my mum telling me after I saw his picture on the news, but I honestly just thought he was a stray to begin with since I hadn't heard what happened to him and thought it was advertisement for Dogs Trust or whichever >< I heard as well that he was blind in one eye after the ordeal :/ the amount of pain that poor dog must have went through, at least he is in a better place now and no longer suffering <3.
Sadly this is a thing that just keeps happening :/ I watch animal cop shows like Animal Cops Houston and Animal Precinct and this isn't the first burn case victim you hear about, one story on it was a kitten that had done something the man considered wrong so he held it against an oven with the door wide open and burnt its face and whiskers then another story was of a dog with mange and the owner covered it in petrol, not as a cruelty thing but they had heard it was a cheap remedy for mange that they didn't realise didn't work and some fella's set that dog on fire to, even my mum's Sheltie was poisoned in her own back yard or at least thats what mum believes, the neighbor didn't like the dog very much :/

I thought it was just another pitbull after getting it bad after a fight ( its not that I dont care about dog fighting.. but I've seen so much animal cruelty nothing phases me anymore. ) He was blind in one eye? I didn't know that! Though I seen his eye completely blood shot, and his nose skin burnt off, its just a horrifying thing to see. >< He was a fighter to last as long as he did <3
You watch animal cruelty shows? I do too! One of the saddest cases I've seen on that was a mother and her pups were abandoned in the backyard of a house that there was no life for weeks, and the niebhours got concerned about the dog in the back and when an investigater came out, they found the mother had puppies,who was being eaten alive by maggots, and the mother was close to dead. ;u; your moms dog was poisoned? Oh dear I'm so sorry! ><

Sadly Pit bull's are banned in the UK which is a shame cause they can be excellent family pets but alas, dog fighters made them a banned breed :/ but yeah, he was blind in one eye the poor lil darling, such a trooper to fight for his life for so long <3.
Yeah, I love watching shows like that where the animals get justice for what happened to them but that is a sad story about the mother and pups D: how can people just abandon their dogs? I know I never could, my dogs are my life. Yeah, it was years ago but it still happened :/ I don't understand why anyone could do it.

Sadly, something like this has happed to me too. My cat was purposely fed antifreeze. She was suffering and in a lot of pain, we had to put her down, I was out of the state when she was murderer. I was really sad when I found out. It was 2 yrs recovery time for us till we got our new kitty

Fed antifreeze? Who would do that?! >< I honestly know what you mean it takes such a long time to recover from someone lost, Guinness one of my many dogs was killed by a car in 2006, and I still grieve from time to time :c I bet you love your new kitcat! ^^

I know, but she was one of only 2 cats I've owned on my life, I loved her. and yep, antifreeze, it tastes sweet to cats.

Beat them? Oh dear ;u; I heard of in China a woman adopted a kitten and only metres away from the adoption centre stamped on it wiht her heels until it died. ;u; I have no idea why this world is so cruel, I really don't. and I'm sorry to hear about Chase dear :c

That is sick. Who in the hell could just burn a living creature like that? The pictures are terrible and it was so heartbreaking to look at them and wonder what Cody could have been thinking when he was tortured the way he was.
I hope and pray the family can recover from their tragic loss and I hope they know Cody is waiting for them in a much better place.

What really broke my heart is the fact Cody returned home despite the pain he must of been in, he still returned. All the devotion, loyality and faithfulness an animal gives only for it to be returned.. Like this. Apparently his injurys were so bad coming up to last week, that he was unable to walk.

It's totally unfair the way animals are abused. They have feelings like we do, but I swear sometimes I think an animal that loves his family will always be more loyal than any person could. I feel so sorry for him, knowing that he was in so much pain...
At least he's happy and healthy now.

Makes you wonder what people are truly capable of. I'd feel guilty when I'd see my dog try open the door to get to me, I don't even want to think what those people were feeling.

That's terrible, I nearly cried when I saw the pictures.
I can't believe someone would burn a dog alive and torture it, image what it feels to be the dog and what it went through.

I'm only one of the many who were affected by it, I can't honestly imagine how the family feels right now, if I lost any of my pets, I don't think I could ever cope loosing someone to something that was simply full of hate.
