Berrypunch: This is either a public stunt or a kinky foreplay.
Oh Pinot, you have no idea that they are the (IDW-based canon) mirrorverse Octavia and Vinyl! Buuuuut I based their personalities... Um, 'ponynalities'(?) on my "Vi and Melody" crack: pandan009.deviantart.com/art/D… (Though the latter detail is not so apparent here.)
So, let me see if I can tell the story behind this....
According to "Reflections", The Mirror Universe is intensely attached to the actual universe, that whatever happens within one of them affects, most likely in reverse, to the other....
Mirror world Octavia and Vinyl are doing painstakingly bad in each of their careers for one year now. At first they thought they truly lost their flares and begrudgingly prepared to move on to other lifestyles. But then Professor Hooves (Mirror world Derpy) showed them her theory of an existing alternate universe where everything is the opposite to their world. [ Theoretically, it means their (Octy and Vinyl) counterparts are currently swimming in success.] And she had been building a dimension-hopping contraption so she can, well, visit this place. By accident* "Rocktavia" and "Vinyl Class" were transported by the half-done machine. But they have yet to figure out what actually happened.
....
Since they don't know how to go back, and that Professor Hooves' machine needed more work to be safe enough for use, the two were stranded in this world. BonBon and Lyra, the only ponies who know who they are, will take them in and try to help them return to their own dimension.
Unbeknownst to them, their guests were keeping a questionable intention.
Confirming how Octavia and Vinyl ARE very much at the top of their careers, "Rocktavia" persuades "Class" that they should 'secure their own future' while they have the opportunity.
If they can take down Vinyl and Octavia and make sure they stay that way, life would definitely be a lot sweeter for both of them once they get back home, right?

*I want this one to be mirror-verse Time Turner's fault. But I'm confused on what the Mirrorverse him would be like. I mean, yeah, the 4th doctor's a strong call. But what does that mean to the main universe Turner? In my canon Time Turner Hooves, he's a mature, witty but cheerfully outgoing stallion. And I don't know how that compares to the fourth doctor. I don't watch Doctor Who. So well, I shrug my shoulders again.

Well, I haven't seen that much of the Fourth Doctor, but from what I have seen, he was wildly energetic, rather bizarre, quite arrogant, disarmingly casual, remarkably antiauthoritarian, and a passionate humanist.

Also BonBon is my fave pony so a frontal body shot is always a treat.
I'm happy to see you experiment more with comics, though unlike what some other person said on DB, I'm also happy to see you jusr draw snippets of ideas. I love interesting bits that give context for a longer unspoken story where your mind can't help but finish it in your head, too.

A Bonbon fan, eh? Coincidentally she had recently gained a higher rank on my scale of most favorite ponies. It's going to be inevitable that I'm going to draw more Bonbons in the future.
I SHOULD at least try to find ways to improve my drawings, experimenting and such. All the deviants in my watchlist are getting better and better. I'm not enjoying being left behind again. However, this was another one that didn't go well as an attempt. But at least I know what not to do next time.
Agh! You really think it's alright if I just make snippets?? I'm terrible with telling stories but I have my flashes of daydreams and 'what if's. I just want to get them out of my head. But the downside is when people wanted to see more. I'm not complaining though. Actually it's flattering. It just gets me a bit disappointed at myself.

Or the fifth solution. If they all stay in one universe (either mirror universe or unmirror universe in fine), they won't be force to do the opposites with each other, and all four of them can succeed!

I'm worried that what you have planed for the moral of the story won't play out so well. The vaguely defined "everything is opposite" can mean many things, depending on the interest of the writer of the story.
The first problem is that if they do find out that they "should not" change the success of Octavia and Vinyl Scratch, you'd probably write that they decide to change their career, but wouldn't that cause Octavia and Vinyl Scratch to change their career too? The only way to make sure both sides aren't doing too bad is if both sides are doing not too good.
The second problem is that you seem to assume that the normal universe is the "mover" of everything that happens, and the mirror universe is merely the "receiver". Like, whatever happens in the mirror universe is a passive reflection of what happens in the unmirror universe, and they are forced to do the opposites of Octavia and Vinyl Scratch. Like their intentions to improve themselves doesn't matter, because only Octavia and Vinyl Scratch can cause a change.
The first solution to this dilemma is to sweep the ugly dilemma under the carpet. Like, if it's so hard to accept that they are just a reflection of somepony else, the easiest way to avoid that is to close the portal and pretend there is no unmirror universe.
The second solution is to pretend that only the "normal" dimension matters, and call all other dimensions inferior. That happens in many stories.
For example, in the legends of Narnia, the wardrobe is a portal to Narnia, but what happens to Narnia, the life and death of the Narnian creatures, the fall of the kingdom, is apparently not as important as going to school and "growing up" for the four protagonists. Is Narnia a joke? An educational experience for them to face the "real world" of human boringness? Or maybe just a way for the author to impart their worldview into their readers' heads? Why can't anyone STAY in Narnia?
In "Too Many Pinkie Pies", the Pinkie Pies from the mirror pool were simply called "fake", even though they seem perfectly Pinkie Pie except they don't have the same memories (like, they didn't copy the "real" Pinkie Pie's knowledge of the Mane 6).
The third solution is to give equal ability to mirror and unmirror universe, and subsequently sometimes unmirror universe ponies would find themselves doing worse, because their mirror counterparts are doing better.
The fourth solution is to use total fatalism. That is, do away with the part about free will and instead say that neither side has free will, and they simply act in opposite ways because they are fated to do so.
I usually like the third or fourth solution.

There ARE potential plot holes for this setting, specially since I don't fully understand IDW's rule of this link between the two universes.( To be honest, I'm not quiet satisfied with what they portrayed.) So I'm stating in vaugeness... Or whatever it's called, because I'm not quiet sure how some parts should work.
[first solution] Even if AU Vinyl and AU Octavia know they should not directly disturb the plane that is not their own, they will still do it as it can be done. And they chose to do so not plainly because I wanted a problem, but because they want to take advantage of an opportunity to tamper their fate.
This plot is after IDW's example: A pony from 'the other side' can blatantly mess up with the opposite world, which eventually affects their own world. (Problem is, IDW is ironically very not consistent with this rule.)
[second problem] Nah, I don't think the prime universe is the mover. (And I just use 'prime' so I won't get confused with which is pertained.) I'm just basing it because it's the canon, and since the Mirror Universe is, well, its mirror self, it simply reveals what happens to it's counterpart.
But I do assume that there is some kind of 'passive effect' in which one part can't do anything about.
Since I don't completely grasp what rules IDW has set for their version of this world, I made one of my own: Both worlds are, like, part of a whole, and to make the whole balance, they share. Like, if one has 80%, the other has 20%. The AU musicians knows this. So, so to speak, they know that they can and should 'set' prime Octavia and Vinyl's 'success rate' by 10% in order to hog up the 90% when they're home.
My Mirror verse Octavia and Vinyl are determined. I'm not gonna let them pass this opportunity like I mentioned, which makes the first and second solutions invalid.
But the third works best to me. And I do think they'll eventually resolve to that.

You know, I think this is the first time someone dismissed this topic this easily. I mean I'm not annoyed when someone keeps recommending me to continue some idea I draw, but it's, as they say, 'something new', so I can't help but point this 'new thing' out.
