This isn't just an usual hug they might give one another out of nothing or even "long-time-no-see" kind of hug, but there's something a lot more to it, I think. Like it was saying "So glad to have you back!"
A little story behind that picture occured to me (Maybe you'll find it a bit morbid).
Art ended up in the hospital fighting for life after one of the child games gone wrong. His condition is getting worse every day, Birro is worried sick, blaming himself for the idea he got (not a specific idea, you know him better ), visiting him everytime when he has an opportunity. It takes too long (weeks or month), he can't concentrate in the school, his parents need to put him to sleep say some nice words, hugs, or persuading him that the doctors know what they're doing, they won't let that kid die and anything that calms the poor fox down and makes him sleep easier, and still hoping for the best.
There's still some fight in that raccoon, a few nurses don't see any hope for him, but they don't say it out loud keep doing their job they're paid for. Once on a visit during the visit hours (when Art is having a close shave with death, but still fighting) Biro just holds his unconscious friend's hand and quietly speaking to him, igniting fight with him, not giving up hope, pleading not to leave him, to fight harder, saying all the honest words addressed only to his buddy, words he would never say if they were both safe an sound and everything was normal (but would feel it for him anyway) trying to keep his tears where they're "almost" coming from (boy crying? Hell no!!).
Durring all the events Art is somewhere else, seeing his (hopefully known) parents, spending his whole coma with them happily, on the other side until he hears a voice. A very known but quiet voice coming out of nowhere. He's the only one who can hear it. At least his parents pretend they hear nothing. ("Did you hear that?" "Hear what?" "The voice?" "We're just talking, so yeah" (They know what's going on and they don't want to be separated from their loved child again) ) It's Biro's voice, he can hear all what he's saying, what he feels for him and he can also hear him struggling not to cry. Pleading him to come back to him. His parents use the same tactics, too, cause they also want to be with him.
Art's so happy with his parents now, but what about his best friend? Somebody must go? But who? If he follows Biro's voice, he abandons his mom and dad even though he loves them. And if he stays, he'll miss his best friend. He asks his parents to come back with him together, but there's a problem. It's too late for these two to come back. They really want their child to stay, live happilly together again, but Art wants both to stay with Biro and them too, which is impossible. They knew it. As much as they wanted him to stay with them they knew they have to give him freedom to choose. Here comes the dilema. If he leaves them two, they'll be heartbroken thinking that he doesn't love them enough, which is not true, and the same for Biro. His mom and dad knew their child very well and they also knew what was he thinking, so they decided to ease it up for him saying that they will always walk beside him, be there for him whenever he needs no matter the choice he makes. The choice is a bit less difficult but still not easy. It takes some time to think about it. After a while he turns towards them not knowing what to say and how to say, he just goes straight to them and hugs them tightly, they return the hug wishing it would last forever. His mother wipes his tears "Don't be sad, honey. One day we'll see again! But not today". He hugs her again knowing that he won't see her anytime soon. Then he hugs his father, who returns the hug rubs his back with one hand and his headfur with the other "I love you too, my son." (still hugging) "You should go now! Your friend needs you." Art slowly walks away but not with the ease. "Remember, we'll be always here for you."
Here we are. His condicion suddenly gets stabilized. Later he wakes up (Biro's not there at that moment), and a bit later he got well enough to be released from hospital and picked up. The moment when Biro spots him, breathing and walking, he becomes speachless. His chin fell down out of surprise And he could hardly spell his name out of joy. Scratch that, just hug him! What I saw in the hug on that picture was "Glad to have you back" kind of hug. He's also apologizing for his irresponsibility (which was just an innocent game, but still), Art ignores, he's not blaming him at all. He returns the hug to the enlightened fox (shyly as ever just to rub headfur for a start, look around if anyone's watching and then return the hug him back with as much love as possible).
Kind of tough resposibility-lesson I wish to nobody. I was wondering why he knelt down when hugging his friend, he must have missed him, because he was out of town or something, but then I thought that it would be more of tackle hug or anything but kneeling down. May be it's out of gratitude he's still near and that's how I came up with such a story. You got your own, I'm eager to read and ready to translate

Oh dude, this story is awesome, it made me cry, it was something I lived but I never got my friend back.
There are a lot of emotional things there, and I don't know why you share it on a comment in this old picture from them, hehe.
Art had never known his parents, he doesn't even remember them in his dreams. When I was thinking on the story of these two guys, I was thinking Art is like that because he wants to know where he came from or what happened with his parents, but it were going to be a topic I was not interested to touch, my topic in this story is about friendship, and how a person who is not from your family could be this special, or change your life, and I prefered to take some of my own experiences from the past to re-create his human friend, and this fox who is going to be the most special person for him. Julio is someone also very important for this raccoon.
Thanks a lot for take your time on thinking a story with my characters, I wish I could write as well as you, that's why I'm better drawing and telling stories through pictures.

I'm sorry for your loss and bringing out such a memory Hopefully your friend isn't too bored up there. Probably watching us like a movie with some popcorn enjoying the "INSTANT" action, intense, drama, angst/comforrt, funny stuff and other stuff live brings to us without any ticket or a restroom brake needed . Do you think about him often?
This story didn't take me so long, it came up instantly out of nowhere as I've seen this emotional picture.
Art's never known his parents? Poor boy must have felt a bit touched when Biro's parents showed up in the park. The sorrow in his face after Biro left were because this fun he had last few minutes would probably never repeat again? Or a pity, he might not meet the fox again? Or did his friend unwilingly triggered the "Ma and Pa" button? And growing up in orphanage? That requires very very strong personality for this raccoon. Many other kids would cause pain to other kids for that, but Art is way stronger than that and that's what impressed me about this character. At least Julio was still there to heal all his wounds. This tutor really pissed me off in the 25th page. He's paid to give a kid another chance for live, not to cause just another trauma in him. Some people are really disgusting.
Old picture? Come on, old doesn't mean forgotten, man. Beginings are the other interesting thing a fan loves to see. This comic caught my eye so much, I like to see this duo in any picture you got here . An advanced writer would never fit it into a comment block XD, because he would write it in at least 3 chapters or a whole novel of this single event. Probably switching between the events of Art and Biro are facing... And drawing? Man, I'm lucky I know how to draw a rectangle XD . But it would have been fun if the psychologist's patients had guessed what it is XD .

Awrr man, thanks for your comments <3
And thanks again for that story, it made me think how important are those two friends for each other. Probably not yet at the point I've told on the comic, I've taken so much on each page, I wish everyone knows as much as I know about those two characters and all their friends around.
Surely you'll hate that adult even more on page 30th.
