I did this painting long ago as a much different Pandora. I was fifteen, painted it at the dining room table, was listenning to Burg playing the Law and Order song on a kazoo from the next room.
As for the picture? There is not much of a story behind it except that it inspired in me once finished. I imagine her to be the comcubine of a powerful war lord years ago. She is seductive, intelligent, cunning, coy, quick. An opertunist, not shying away from the life style but embracing it for all the fruits is could provide her. In the darkness of a brochade heavy etnt on a Mongolian plain, she leans over an oil candle and extends this glare. At whom, and for what motive? I let you interpret, but all I can guess is she's enjoying herself.
