"The Child was orphan and dumb, no one in the orphanage knew who were his real parents. No children ever wanted to stay with him and he was always kept away from the games.
He had a special place: a tree on a hill close to the orphanage where he used to pass every sunday afternoon writing his diary, the only friend he had.
During a really cold sunday on winter, the Child went on the hill, it was snowing very hard, but he could find a repair under the strong tree. Opening his diary he found out that he was at the last page of it. He spent a lot meditating on what to write down, as he wanted to say goodbye to his dear diary the best he could, but no inspiration came to his mind...so the little Child fell asleep dreaming the friend he never had.
The next day the children of the orphanage went out to play with the snow and under the tree they found the little Child, with a hand on the heart and the last page of the diary still blank in the other hand..."

I hope you enjoyed.

Thanks for the appreciation. I'm glad you like the piece, did you read the story? I invented it that night. It comes along with the picture.
Peace

This is one of my fav. I love the pencil-like sign and the way colors are used. I think it's a perfect illustration for the story; it reminds me of "Xmas carol" by Dickens which is sad but genuine, like this work and the story linked to it.

pandracchio In reply to Arinu1 [2006-12-17 04:42:26 +0000 UTC]

Well, yes... he was too beautiful for the world he lived.
As the story I wrote said, he had no friend but his diary, that was his only attachment to life.
The story is about love and friendship, two common words that people forget the power of sometimes.

I like that- and I alike how the one hand holding the paper still looks livid while the rest of him is clearly dead. He looks like he passed happy at least.

yes, that was the idea as the diary was the only thing that kept him alive.

Ah ok thanks for your appreciation. The story behind the piece is a sad Christmas story I invented. I hope you like
I have seen the other pieces, and I think yours is one of the best one, I was just looking at it with my girlfriend this evening. But do you know who decide the winners?

thanks ! I was almost crying while I finished it...but probably it was the whole mood of it, 'cos I was listening to really sad piano music...

inthename In reply to pandracchio [2006-12-10 17:18:05 +0000 UTC]

Your welcome! LOL, well no doubt...sad piano music will do it too a person every time!
It was probably the best thing to listen too while you were working on it though, because I think the misic could've been partly responsiable for the way the art turned out too, and it was appropriate for the art peoice!

pandracchio In reply to inthename [2006-12-10 17:34:05 +0000 UTC]

yeah, you know...sometimes I prefer silence...you focus more on the technique in that way. But when I paint an emotional piece like this...well I put on some music with the mood of the piece

inthename In reply to pandracchio [2006-12-10 17:41:52 +0000 UTC]

Me too, my husband always asks me why i sit in quiet alot, and I tell him that quiet is good for thinking and like you said...focus.
Your right, I do that too sometimes, music can really set the mood for things like this. you are a good artist, and I look forward to seeing more. Thank you for adding me too

i really like the detail you put into your drawings... it makes it seem more realistic... helps maybe relate to it a little (although I can't possibly relate to the story behind the picture)

anyway, keep working! im glad you're on my watch list
