Twilight felt a cold breeze to which she awoke. She stood and headed toward the carriage for extra blankets, and as she approached the carriage, she noticed something outside. She squinted her eyes, trying to focus. There was two...then three...then four...they were the machines, but this time, instead of hovering, they had wheels and large cannons on top, this time with the operators on the outside- ponies standing on their hind legs, holding firearms. She gasped, rushing over to Thunderlane, "Thunder..." she shook him. He stirred, then looked at her, "Thunderlane, the machines!" she said in a shrill but quiet voice, "Their out there!" she said again, turning pale.

Thunderlane looked out at the machines, "Have they been following us...?"

"I don't know, but...their right in our path; we can't get out without them seeing us..." Twilight began to worry, then looked to the fire, "Douse the fire!"

"Right..." Thunderlane poured out the water from his canteen onto the fire, then back to her side. Twilight was using her magic to pile some snow over the entrance to conceal their position, "are they still out there...?" Thunderlane asked, eyes darting back and forth.

"I don't know..." Twilight said, "Their not in our path anymore..." she said.

"For all we know they could be right on top of us..." Thunderlane whispered.

"I'm scared..." Twilight said, getting closer to him.

"We should get further into the cave..." Thunderlane replied, nudging her toward their sleeping bags.

"What if they enter...?" Twilight kept a keen eye on the entrance, although moving back to her original position beside the fire, which had been put out.

"Then...We bolt for it...and hope they don't follow us..." Thunderlane replied.

"I'll stand watch...you should sleep more." Twilight insisted.

"No..." Thunderlane chuckled, "You're pulling next, you need your rest." Thunderlane replied, "I can rest on the way there."

"okay...just...don't leave my side, please?" Twilight nuzzled him, getting into the sleeping bag.

"I promise." Thunderlane nuzzled back, then sat, watching the entrance as Twilight tried to get back to sleep.

"Thunderlane?" Twilight sighed quietly, then sat in silence for a moment, "I...I like you...you're a good stallion." Twilight smiled, turning toward the back of the cave and falling asleep.

Thunderlane watched the entrance to the cave, then looked to Twilight. "Yeah...I-I like you too..." he sighed, looking back out to the entrance, "I love you..." he whispered before making sure she was asleep.

He had sat there for a good long couple hours before deciding that they had moved on. He looked at Twilight, and got under the sleeping bag with her. She turned around, and hugged him tight, "I love you, Thunderlane..." She began to cry, "I love you!"

Thunderlane sat there for a few moments, holding her back, "I-I..." he looked into her eyes, "I love you too..." he kissed her gently, "I love you...Twilight..."

"I want to have you..." she said, pulling him into another kiss, pressing herself against him.

"Then take me..." he said, looking deep into her eyes, pulling her close. Thunderlane and Twilight remained under the covers, making love slowly. After a good forty minutes, Thunderlane finished in her, then pulled out gently, lying beside her as she cuddled him.

"I love you so much..." She repeated, panting a little, holding him close, "Promise me you won't ever leave me..."

"I won't...princess..." Thunderlane kissed her passionately.
