This one was waiting in my laptop for more than a year when I rewatched this movie and was in a bit of a Fox and the Hound obsession again, something that always happens with my favorite movies form time to time XD

Not many people remember Tod's mother when thinking of characters who lost a parent in Disney films, yes, we the audience don't get to see much of her like... let's say... Bambi's mother, but from the point of view of poor little Tod, it is, in no way, any less sad. And considering red foxes tend to be monogamous, chances are, Tod's father may have been killed just as well moments before the chase began.

So here's Tod's mom saying her goodbyes to her baby...
