Description MARKUS FLYNN

Beep…beep…beep

The alarm clock blared, piercing the silence of the dark room like a thorn.  Grumbling in Russian, Markus Flynn rolled onto his right side and slapped the alarm with his left hand.  He opened his dark green eyes and yawned as he sat up, pushing the covers off of himself.

His bare feet hit the cold hardwood floor as cold air assailed him.  Christmas would be there soon, and with it the reminder of what he is missing.  He frowned as he put on his clothes then turned toward the nightstand where the now silent alarm perched.

He reached out with his left, and unconsciously ran his hand across the metal base attached to his right shoulder where his arm should have been.  On the nightstand sat a metallic arm perfectly built to fit his shoulder.  He grabbed the arm with his left and a small spike appeared with several sharp hooks attached to it.

Markus gritted his teeth in preparation for the oncoming flood of pain.  He shoved the large spike into his shoulder where the hooks connected with the still living nerve endings.  He almost screamed, instead he took a deep breath as he waited for the small click that announced all the nerves had connected and the arm was ready.

Within moments the click sounded.  Markus released the breath and waited for the rest of the pain to slowly die away.  Once that was done, he stumbled out into the hallway of his the apartment he shared with his girlfriend.

He glanced across the hall toward her bedroom.  The door was open, and the hamster was running on its wheel.  He sighed and shook his head, class must have started early this morning.

The morning sunlight filtered in through the open blinds.  He blinked his eyes as he waited for them to adjust to the sudden light.  In the kitchen, he found a plate of breakfast and a cup of coffee waiting for the seventeen year old. He smiled, a rare expression that only Viola knew his face was capable of making.

"Thank you Viola."

The door banged open under a harsh blow.  Markus spun around and ran forward.  He pressed himself against the small part of wall that hid the kitchen from the living room.  Silently, he began to reach for the pistol he kept hidden within a small desk.  His raised hand didn't reach it, but a magnetic pull did.  The pistol rocked for a moment, then flew toward him, he caught it deftly in his hand and readied it.

A man stepped around the corner with a rifle held loosely in his hands.  He raised an eyebrow at the sight of the pistol in his face.  The seventeen year olds dark eyes were as deep as a summer storm as he gazed at him.

"Markus Flynn?"

"Da? Vhat do you vant?" The boy growled from behind the barrel of the pistol.  The man lowered his rifle, knowing it was of no use against the angry boy.

"I have a proposition for you."

"Piss off," Markus snorted as he cocked the pistol.  The man laughed, but his eyes remained cold.

"I believe you live with your girlfriend, Viola Canterberry from Aidas?  Charming young girl isn't she?  You both go to college together, you as an engineer and computer expert, and she as a…biologist?  Is that right?"

Markus glared hatefully at the man, an expression his face was quite capable of making, and actually very good at.  He was older and taller than the boy with curly blonde hair that hung down near his ears.  The man's ice blue eyes glittered with intelligence, and deep down, hatred.  But of what? The man's suit was black and green, and the rifle he held had the initials NS etched into the barrel.  Markus gave the man a vampiric smile that was filled with nothing but malice.

"NS?"  He said motioning toward the rifle with his pistol, "Paslen?  Nightshade?"   Maybe I can gain the upper hand on this situation after all.  The man's face remained impassive, but his widened eyes betrayed his shock.  "How do you-"

"Know about Project Nightshade?" Markus interrupted, "You should know better than to hack my computers.  I am an accomplished hacker myself, my uncle taught me, and you would have known if you knew anything at all about myself.  The idiot who controls your tech has a lot to learn about setting up surveillance equipment."

The man was taken aback by the teenagers nonchalant mood toward his threat and his knowledge of the organization was abundant.  "Well, if you know so much about us, then you know what we do."

A grim light came into Markus's dark eyes as he nodded, "Da, I know vhat it is you do."

The man gave him a winning grin as he gave a nod, "Then that leads us back to my first point, you're an intelligent young man Mr. Flynn.  But, a lonely one with few to no friends apart from Miss Canterberry am I right?  It would be a shame if something were to happen to her."

Fury leaped up inside Markus.  The metal fingers of his right hand clenched into a fist as the left hand's trigger finger itched to squeeze the metal it wrapped around.  He would have pulled it in a heartbeat, but they knew where Viola is.  The man had said that within the first few seconds of their conversation.  Normally he would have laughed at the man's boldness to go after someone as strong as Viola, but…Project Nightshade was something completely different, they wouldn't hesitate to kill her.  He took a deep calming breath as he lowered the pistol.

"Vhat do you vant me to do?"

The metal arm reminds me a lot of Edward. Only, it's magnetic.

I noticed this end doesn't sound like fantasy at all. More like a spy-action-mission-to-be-accomplished kind of thing. Looking forward to how all of this will tie up together.

Haha, thanks

Can't say Ed inspired him though, I've had Markus since seventh grade. Way before I watched Fullmetal last year. Love the show though, and Ed kind of made me think of him.

Not really fantasy yet on his end of the line. He has to know what's going on first.
