Description KITTY

He looks just as nervous as everyone feels, Kitty thought as she watched the Pendragon deliver his hesitant speech.  The crowd cheered and applauded as the boy stepped down to get away.  They converged on him like hungry sharks, slapping his back and repeating various reassurances that were heartier than they felt.

He has no clue as to what he is doing.  No one does. Kitty sighed as she stood up, dropping her cat form.  The Mongrel began to steadily tail the boy through the crowd, keeping at the least two people between them at all times. She followed him through the throng of people, pushing and using a well placed elbow to several sides and guts as she went.  Where are you going? She doubled back, dropping back down to the cat as a weasel-faced boy stopped Sam dead in his tracks.

"Lancaster?" The boy took a step back and drew his wand as Kitty drew her throwing knives when danger threatened her.  Politics and family struggles were strangers to the young thief.  The fate of Samuel Pendragon I was of no importance to her, nor was the boy's problems.  She turned to go.

The crowd had all but dispersed to help rebuild and search for the missing.  She caught snatches of the Pendragon's conversation as she padded away.  She quickly threw the words from her mind.  Another deeper voice had joined the boys, and a hint of panic was in Sam's soft voice.

A few people still milled about, watching the family bicker.  Her eyes roved up and down the street, now to find a nice place to-
A crackle of magic lit up the entire world, she blinked, and a kaleidoscope of colors sprang up as she turned around.  She was surrounded by the invisible colors of life, they flowed from all living things and the energy released by them.  Magic always turned on her sight.

She watched as the boy fell back.  The flames that flickered on his chest were a festering black color, cast from corruption that blended with his own aura a stunning golden red, like a rising sun.  People panicked, as if on cue.  They screamed and ran, pushing and shoving one another out of the way of the danger they sensed.

One stepped on her tail.  She hissed clawing at the unfortunate limb and swearing under her breath.  The colors blended, dancing, changing, and swirling in a dazzling display that left her light headed.  A wave of green black raced across the ground, rooting everyone to their place.   She wrenched aside trying to break free of the Rooting Spell that weaved around her feet.

She cast her gaze back to where the Pendragon's stood.  The boy was gone, and the elder's face was a furious red that mimicked the sudden anger in his aura.  He escaped! They held a quick conversation as the crowd fell silent, knowing that a change of leadership was at hand.  Reaching a consensus, the Pendragons made their way through the stricken crowd and mounted the vacant podium.

A dark-haired man cast his gaze out across the gathering.  The aura around him was a venomous green with a sickly yellow underlining.  Kitty disliked him immediately.

Beside him, was Lancaster.  The man's son was smaller, and pale with red hair and a face that faintly reminded Kitty of a weasel.  His aura was almost the same as his fathers, except for the underlying cyan color that told her he'd stab you in the back faster than he could say "hello." She didn't really like him either, his smug smile decided it.

"Citizens of Utopia." He began almost mockingly, saying the same words of his nephew.  "I know you are all frightened and lost.  I am here to tell you that you do not need to worry.  I will handle things from here.  My name is Magnus Pendragon, and this is Lancaster."  He introduced himself with a gesture toward his son who waved. "You may not know about us.  This is because my brother and his son were quite greedy; they took our home and our money and led this world to the sea!"

He almost yelled "sea." Kitty's fur prickled, I bet there's a reason for all of this. I can see it pouring from your mouth and dancing around your body.

He took a deep breath, "I am here to fix that.  I will lead us through this hard time, and take control of this country, fix all of your problems, and make sure we are all safe.  No more will the Pendragons hide out in their manor, too afraid to use the power given to them, no more will we bicker among ourselves over gold and power while you are all forced to take care of this city.   No more.  You do not need a child to lead you.  You need me." He finished, his hazel eyes swept across the crowd, meeting gazes.  For a moment it was silent enough to hear the pounding waves far below us.  Then, someone cheered.

It swept through the crowd like a virus.  One cheered, and then they all did.  Applauding even more heartily than they did for the boy who had just died.  The incident wiped from their mind in their euphoric new hope.

Kitty was only disgusted.  Theft was her thing, and she was quite good at it.  Killing for protection was no stranger to her either.  But these two were cold blooded murderers and getting away with it.  It sickened her to the core.  The Rooting Spell was dispelled, and the crowd swept forward, cheering and calling the duos names.  Kitty padded the other way in disgust.

Yes, he does survive, and I'm sorry for the slow pace. Not much has happened.

You're right, they're tough to kill with magic, and Sam is tougher still, even with a sword or club.

I didn't think you were. I just feel bad about the slow pace, but It speeds up. Eventually, I'm almost done with it.

Yes, yes he is, that and much, much more.
