Some advice is just to check things out and leave comments those that you comment on may comment back in return, it's really an unspoken rule really.
Keep adding stuff as well that helps too and if you're really desperate there are workshops in the forums though you might want some experience taking critique and comments bad, good, or constructive whatever the type, so don't give up and try to be courteous and mature and you'll do fine with this site.
