Surprise!
*Breaks windows*

BOOM! Knee to the head!

Yuki Hellstrom, Stella Andersen and Valdis Nystrom from the Arctic Avengers Mercenaries raid a warehouse where suspected terrorists are hiding. Yuki goes first and knocks the bejesus out of a bad guy. He's not going to wake up for a long time.

Yuki has a Customised Arctic Warfare Magnum Sniper rifle on her back, Stella has an M240L and Valdis has a SAR-21 Assault Rifle with M203 Grenade Launcher, in addition they all carry Glock-18 Machine Pistols.

Finally....... I've managed to get my lazy ass back to work and have finished with 's request as part of an art trade I've agreed to do with him.

He has long fulfill his part of the deal, however I failed to deliver my part in the weeks after we made the agreement. I show up today, nearly 4 months LATER!

And I can't say I did my best here. I guess I tried to chew more that I actually could. The final project looks NOTHING like I initially had in mind. In addition to that I made several mistakes with the perspectives, the proportions and positions of the characters. But at least I could hide most of the mistakes by using Light effects and a little bit of smoke.

But I can't help thinking that I could do much better than this.

oh well. as usual I used the same coloring techniques as always, except for one detail. This work is the first one I upload in which I've use the pen tool to create the lineart. I did draw this on paper but instead of inking it, I took a photograph, and I made the lineart directly in PhotoShop. It's actually pretty easy and far less time consuming than the way I used to do my projects. I gotta press harder on the pencil 'though, the photos I take are pretty crappy and have to elevate the contrast to see the lines.

The Camouflage pattern I used is the DPM that's available for download in my Camouflage Brushes pack.

So what's next?

Well. I was in negotiations with two guys about commisions, but I don't know if they're still interested. The time it took me to finish this has let me to question myself whether I should keep drawing as I perceive I'm loosing interest in it.

For the time being I still got a few other linearts waiting to be colored, nothing very fancy. I've also been doing a few sketches but nothing worth uploading. My style has gotten pretty rusty so I'm going back at drawing simpler stuff, like one character only drawing, no backgrounds, etc. to get a grip back at my drawing style.

I hope you guys like this. I know some stuff in it looks weird and makes little sense but.... if you're going to critize, be nice.

See'ya in the Battlefield!

No. I'm afraid that at this time I can't take commisions. Got a lot of studying and other artistic projects in the way. Sorry.

If it's an art trade, do you accept works done with Pimp My Gun?

Panzerfire In reply to shooter2170 [2013-01-27 03:18:41 +0000 UTC]

Ehhhr no. That's nowhere near enough for an art trade. I only do art trades with artists who have artistic skills I'm fond of.

Arctic Avengers? That's CounterStrike OpFor. Who gave them US Benjamins to become the next Shadow Company?

I suggest that you use a scanner if you have one. There's this itty-bitty problem about not being able to get the shot at the exact resolution you want, besides not getting that perfect 90° that the scanner can do.

These, I point out: Stella needs a more dynamic posture and Valdis' left leg would be better put firmly on the ground than suspended in a mid-air walk.

btw, I thought you listed the characters from left to right; I would've used the wrong names if I didn't read properly.

If I were you I'd look start asking the questions to EVOV1, he's namely in charge of the whole operation.

The problem I have with scanning drawings, Is that I often draw my projects on sheets of paper of A-3 size or even twice as big. I could probably draw the same in a A-4 but I feel like I loose the ability to draw more details.
Anyway, the issue with so large sheets of paper is that I need to use large scanners to scan those drawings and I would also have to ink them so that they show up properly, I'm told that the large scanners will scan the files as a TIFF files and that's a nightmare quality if you're scanning a pencil work. Lots of lines would get lost.
And finally it takes a load of money to scan them in a special copy center equiped with such scanners.

Nah, the current strategy I got is just fine, I only make a few edits to the final pic to get a more squared and properly proportionate version and that's it. The differences are almost non-noticeable.

Regarding the postures of Stella and Valdis, I'll take a note of your comment. I do in fact have problems drawing more dinamic postures. It's something I'm currently trying to fix in my style and hopefully in the future I can draw better than I can do right now. I've started recently to take drawing classes so I hope that helps me improving.

Choice of file format, from my experience, isn't supposed to be a problem. My all-in-one printer makes JPEGs, GIFs and TIFFs from scanned files all day. And that's just one of the more popular image formats, mind you. I don't see why a dedicated scanner can't do the same. If you're limited to one format only, then that's a software problem, not a hardware problem.

Good luck with your next art, lad.

meh, I bet your Artic Avengers can do better than those people.

They're not mine, they're from

But yeah the artic avengers are a terrorist faction in the Counter-Strike games. Whether EVOV1's Artic Avengers are part of it, inspired by it or developed entirely independent from it, is unknown to me.

Panzerfire In reply to M4IAN [2012-05-03 03:02:46 +0000 UTC]

None that I can think of.

EVOV1 told me that Yuki normally carries a Artic Warfare rifle, but for the picture he did say I could take the freedom to give her another weapon.

I did not thought it very carefully and went with the sniper rifle anyway even 'though it doesn't really suit the situation. Just assume she's a hardcore mercenary with super awesome strenght and aim.

Reminds me of a certain Ghost Recon Future Soldier takedown you do, except this is with women. But in the GRFS one, you sprint at the guy while cloaked, grab his collar, smash his head into the hood of an armored car, and throw him to the ground-meanwhile your other two squad mates take down a couple guards around him.
