A Sukhoi Su-33 (NATO Reporting name: "Flanker-D") of the VFA-42 Bloodhounds. A squadron belonging to the Carrier Fighter Wing 171 (CVW-171).

This Su-33 is chasing and gunning down an enemy MiG-23. It's a sure kill.

Basically it's a large clan for gamers of the YS Flight Simulation System. A freeware flight sim. But it's one of the best if not THE best of all. They're not to be messed with.

I was looking to work on this for a long while. Actually this is the first of many more pics featuring the many aircraft of the 171st. Actually... each squadron has quite a lot of different planes but I plan on adding them all or as many as possible.

I'm quite happy with this project. The Flanker turned out pretty good and of high quality. And the background ain't bad either but I could have made it better. I'm really not good at painting backgrounds from scratch. But I really don't want to use Google Earth to take captions for the ground.

Another thing I tried out in this project was a more accurate depiction of the wingtip vortices although I think I reduced the opacity of them a bit too much But I'm still happy with it.

The VFA-42 logo is made by CVW-171 XO Iceman.

Well.... I hope you guys like this. I'm gonna get back at drawing a few more linearts and then I'll probably make another CVW-171 fanwork. I'll try doing some more actual combat scenes with bombings runs and missile hits. My gallery needs some explosions..... Michael Bay'ish explosions.
