Description Icicle hall under a sandstone bluff at Mirror Lake State Park in Wisconsin. The water seeps through the porous sandstone and forms icicles on the underside of the bluff. They are very fragile... falling from the ceiling if disturbed.

this is such an interesting shot - it almost doesn't even look real! really awesome photo - i'm always transfixed by icicles.

Well... I'm in Colombia now [escaped the last foot or two of snow] and tomorrow [Thursday] we fly to Medellin, "the city of eternal spring"!!! I'm packing away all the winter shots that I didn't load on dA [I think I have enough for next year]!!!!

These are pretty small ones. I was pretty careful around the bigger ones... the biggest problem was walking past them and, because of the treacherous footing, reaching out to grab them when slipping... I was concerned about being intimately connected with the icicles on a fast journey to the bottom of the hill!!!

Terrific shot, quite surreal in fact. Its a shame you could focus more into the foreground however because the foreground is a touch too large for the eye to follow.
