Description Take 2, added one frame to make the other step a bit smoother, moved head few frames ahead of the body, and added something nice to the end. ^^

I think I need to make a small zoom in the end, though. It didn't go exactly as planned (shouldnotlistentomusicwhileanimating), but I don't have much time to correct it. This is only a part of my final year animation at my school, and the worst scene of the story is ahead next, so I try to reserve as much time to tackle it as I possibly can.

Since I had shown you the first loop of this scene, I thought I could show you the improved one too (which isn't exactly a loop anymore). ^^ Maybe the next one I'll show is the colored scene, but for the other scenes, you'll just have to wait untill I get the whole thing done. I'll keep you waiting. Hmm, maybe I should check how the DA's film submissions work...

Mahtavaa työtä^^ Todella sulavaa liikettä. Kuinkas monta kuvaa meni tähän? Ja ihanko käsin paperille piirsit ensin ja sitten siirsit johonkin sorttiseen animaatio ohjelmistoon jatko käsiteltäväksi?

well what can I say? it's a great animation, so fluid, and you also capture the weight and balance very well, but it still looks light, really great,
all that troubles me is the order in which the paws move, that forward crossed is more of reptiles, mammal tend to move the hind and the fore leg of the same side , and then the other side, like hR-fR-hL-fL
h for hind, and F for front

Ihanan sulavaa!
Taidokasta animointia tosiaankin.
Oletko kenties jossain koulussa opiskelemassa animaattoriksi, vaiko kenties itseoppinut lahjakkuus?
Oli miten oli: tosi hienoa työtä!

Kiitokset! ^^
Itse asiassa valmistuin juuri animaattoriksi (tai, noh, virallinen nimike on "animaatio painotteinen media-assistentti" mutta animaattori on helpompi sanoa). Tämä animaatiopätkä on pikku palanen opinnäytetyöstäni.

Sori että vastaan näin myöhässä. x3
Mutta minua kiinnostaisi tietää missä olet opiskellut animaatiota?

Mie Lybeckerin käsi- ja taideteollisessa itteni animaattoriksi luin. Koulu sijaitsee Raahessa, vähän Oulun alapuolella. ^^

This is beautiful! Amazing! Only thing I'd change: not have so many frames for the crouching part. A quicker crouch, then spring!

But it is mostly awesome, I can believe in my dreams again!

Uuu. o.o
Onko haukun voima sulaminen? @w@ Koska...
Men jag tycka.

Paperiapina In reply to umbbe [2009-03-16 08:09:09 +0000 UTC]

Ui kiitus!

umbbe In reply to Paperiapina [2009-03-16 20:22:18 +0000 UTC]

Tjaa-a, en ole tainnut koskaan vielä käyttää Image Readya... Eikun olempas. Meillä koulussa on käytössä Animo-niminen tajuttoman kallis ammattilais ohjelma, joten mie olen tottunut vähän erilaisiin säätöihin. Mutta mie kyllä väännän tämän vielä kuntoon! Olen päättänyt niin.

Örr aivot tukossa niin en keksi enää mitään muuta neuvoa. <:3

Te ootte varmaan päntänny ne Animaation 11/28 sääntöä? (Yleensä tyyppien mielestä niitä on 12...

Excellent, very smooth, fluid movement. I wish we could use 4-legged creatures in 2D animation. But I love my Poko anyways. >w>;

Anyways, very nice. Pencil on paper?

Paperiapina In reply to Brushfeather [2009-03-16 08:07:48 +0000 UTC]

Well, at our first year here we too created animation characters that had to be bipedal, but as I'm now a final year student working on my own final work that can be just about anything, I choose my hounds. For the simple reason that in the time frame where I can draw one humanoid, I can draw maybe 5-10 dogs. Except if they'd be really simple humanoid-ish-shaped creatures. What kind of character is your Poko?

Yup, pencil on paper. ^^ My favourite media.

I have his turnaround-in-progress: [link] He's a little yellow dog-like alien. Obsessed with his books so much that he refused to evacuate his disaster-ridden homework because it would mean leaving his precious books behind. xD

Jeesuskristus, tuota hyppyä! Ihanan kissamainen ja kiinnitin heti huomiota siihen, miten kauniisti kaula taipuu hypyn alussa. Aiwan ehannata.

Ui kiitos.

Wow fantastic, a really smooth wonderfully rendered piece of animation! I love the anticipation before the jump and the offset, it looks like a wave going down the whole body, really great arcs of motion too. The timing of the piece reminds me of quite a ghostly figure too like the black rabbit from watership down.

If you wanted to get more of a weighty powerful jump at the end though, I would suggest stretching or bluring the figure at the start and end of the jump and having 1 less inbetween frame between the take-off and land and the same amount of frames at the top of the jump.

Really lovely piece I can't wait to see more!

Paperiapina In reply to sarahhorner [2009-03-16 08:01:21 +0000 UTC]

Thank yous! ^^ It's great to get comments from a real professional. I'll see what I can do to the need of blurring in the end. I hope I can do it in After Effects since my animating time is running short, but I think I should shoot the end in ones instead of twos to speed it up.

Huge thank yous for feedback!

sarahhorner In reply to Paperiapina [2009-03-19 09:35:41 +0000 UTC]

Haha no problem, yes shooting on ones for fast action is definatley a good idea, at the old warner bros they used to do that alot, slow and normal paced stuff on twos fast stuff on ones especially on the roadrunner shorts.

I absolutley love Wurr by the way I'm a big fan, keep up the great work.
