Description This picture has been lying on my table half-done for months, but finally today I got it finished. Yay!

Once again characters of my 'lower dragon' pack. These two are cousins, Shade (originally Moonshade, spotted male on the right) and his 'blind-dog' Aurum. Yes, you can see right, I didn't forget anything and there certainly is nothing wrong with Shade's eyes; he doesn't have any eyes. There aren't even holes for eyeballs, and no eyelids, there is just two flat places on his skull where his eyes should be, and his hairy skin covers them completely. Aurum works as his eyes, leading him. He holds the blue silk ribbon that is tied around her left arm, and there won't be a chance for him to not knowing what's in front of them. Aurum never really shuts up, so if there is some obstacles ahead he will know about it soon enough. Annoying, yes, but it works.

And if there ever is need for Shade to spit fire (which, by the way, is transparent and the second hottest of all of his pack's members. Only Fulgor can make more burning fire) he can see through Aurum's eyes. He himself has never had eyes, so he doesn't actually see at all even when using her eyes (that has something to do with the seeing section of brains), but he can aim when he borrows her eyes. Of course, she has to be near him in that case.

And about background. Yes, it has such. Wow.. The background was the reason why this kept just bothering me on my table, but when I today finally got the inspiration, I spent hours in it. I counted that I used eight different colors on the grass, Brown ocre, Golden brown and six different greens. I still wonder where did I get all that patience. And there is a sky! First colored completely with Spectrum blue, then erased the places for clouds and shaded with Ultramarine blue. Well, I don't know how realistic it looks, but not bad for beginner, neh? No, I haven't drawn clouds much before. And once again big thanks to my Photoshop. My blue-blind scanner didn't see that sky almost at all, but I could save it with PS. I've got it for over one and half years, and now I'm finding out how to use it.. Well, better late than never.

(And I made it too bright, didn't I?)

EDIT: Played with Photoshop again, so the sky isn't so bright anymore.

There is no end to your creative mind . What an interesting pair of characters; Aurum seems very caring. I love Shade's fur!

I like the sky... I think the brightness is appropiate for the picture. The only thing that looks a little odd to me is a noticeable amount of lack of coloring where the sky and grass meet... but that may be my monitor/your scanner/my eyes .

Keep it up!

My imagination has ADHD.. At least it feels like it.

Errh, that colourlessness is because I left it outside selection in my Photoshop. That's what the whole sky was looking like before I played with adjustments (If I remembered that last word right..).

'Adjustments' is correct . Hahah, yeah, I guess selecting in between those little blades of grass would be tough . It looks very good, though.

BTW, I think a lot scanners are blind in the blue range of color on purpose. You can specifically buy pencils of the color 'non-photocopy blue' and use it to make your sketch, color over it without erasing the original lines, and then make copies without the sketch marks appearing on the copies. I think Derwent's Spectrum Blue is very close to that color, which is probably why your scanner hates it.

Oh, you're online? How much the cock is at your time now? I'm on school computer rignt now, and its' 9.50 AM.

Yay, I remembered that word! Wow..

Aah, maybe I should have pressed more with that pencil. I have heard that blue pencil is used for sketching, but I didn't know that it could have some effect on scanners too. And again I'm a bit wizer. Thank you. ^^

Uh oh... well right now it is 4:30AM here... which puts the clock at 10:30AM your time, and way past my bedtime . I was having trouble getting an arm to look right in a sketch... and a couple hours seem to have passed . Blasted pencil, why can't it read my mind?

There seems to be a long delay between when you post, and when it says I have a message... this didn't show up untill just now

(BTW... make sure you don't forget the 'l' in clock... because without it you get umm.... need the internet on this one... 'perkele', I believe)

(Actually, literally a 'cock' is a male chicken, a.k.a. 'rooster', but more commonly you'll find people interpret it the other way, as slang)

:Gugh:... that arm had better stay put overnight... or this paper is getting torn up tomorrow . G'night!/Morning!

How can you stay up for so long? At least my brains switch themselves off at least at 10.30 PM. Somehow I don't stay up very long usually..

Whoops! Must remember not to do that error again. (Heh, for some reason I find it interesting when people who don't speak Finnish as their mother tongue use Finnish swear-words.)

Haha, well that one definitely was not in my worthless dictionary (I mean really, what good is a dictionary without swear words? Half of conversational American English is swear words/slang/innuendo )... I had to Google it . I'm not sure how to use it in conversation, but I bet it's pretty similar the equivalents in English .

Heheh, you probably get up earlier than I do, that's how . I'm a night-owl, lately... my brains are rather worthless before noon, and peak around 11PM-4AM. Wasn't always that way, but university kinda made me stay up late a lot, and sorta shifted my biological rhythm a bit. Although last week and this week I've been a bit sleep-deprived in general... so my brains are a bit sizzled...

I cant say it enough, Pearl.. your character interaction is always superb, the backing stories always well thought out. Both Shade and Aurum are adorable, his spotted markings are interestingly different, and her gold and emerald eyes are very pretty. I have to say also you did a nice job with her chest. The breasts look uniform, they have a nice feminine roundness to them, and the shading you applied defines them quite well. I like that you keep it simple and attractive, and not overdone as to attract attention to themselves. As for the surroundings, the grass is just amazing, it seems to have quite some depth to it as tho there are a series of small rolling hills looking towards the horizon, and good attention to detail- i see you disturbed the grass a little at the points where they are stepping The sky is nice, the only thing i would point out is to gradually darken it as it extends towards the top maybe, and second, the clouds have a nice shape to them, and theyre great as they are, they do however appear to have a pretty harsh contrast between them and the sky. Perhaps its just the digitized version. At any rate, this is really a fantastic piece! ^^ Must fave

Thank you. ^^

The size of her breasts is just reasonable. She is a wolf-like character, who lives in wild and doesn't have her own cubs. If her boobs were too big, it would look stupid and it wouldn't feel good to run around in forest.

About the sky.. Well, I think that I should redo it, and edit it. Really, in original scanned version there was almost nothing. My scanner doesn't see blue very well, and then when I tried with Photoshop it made it too bright. Well, practising, practising, maybe someday I will learn how to use PS without too big changes in the coloring..

Welcome

I think the sky would be fine if you just lightened the dark blue surrounding the clouds so they arent as contrasty. Sorry your scanner is blue-blind, Im sure the original piece is incredible. ^^

Wowz.

I guess Shade is a common name for wolves. lol I have a Terre Wolf by the same name. But rambing aside. It's another great work from you.

Yes, it seems to be almost too common.. But the name has been glued to the character for so long, that I just couldn't change it.

Thanks. ^^

I get that from when I see an awesome artist like you, I check to see where they live (I'm quite interested in geography and I love new languages and people) and almost 90% of the time, they're Europeans!

But that's okay. At least it's not the Americans!
