Description "I write about a river. A cold, icy river, that only eludes freezing because of the strength of its raging current. I depict the fish that swim beneath the waters struggling to stay warm, despite their cold blooded attribute. I describe a boy with short, light hair, tied back like a samurai, walking the entire length of the stream, through the course of everyday, the cycle of the moon, until I run out of changing seasons. I describe the feeling of immense accomplishment he experiences when he finally finds the end of the river, the spot where it distributes back into the ocean and he realizes that he is only one of the fish that made the entire journey there. He is only one of many that were able to overcome fear and loneliness and uselessness. But he is still one. He has still accomplished something magnificent, and for that, he is proud. As I put my notebook back into my bag and adapt to the autumn reality around me, I begin to wonder if the day when I reach the end of the river will ever come."
This perler bead creation and paragraph of prose is for my mother, who has always taught me to work hard and encouraged me to keep on swimming.
