Her father was a respectable journalist as he covered many big stories and exposed many of the faults in the country, and so naturally Jane wanted to follow in her father's footsteps but my God, how badly she stubbled in his footprints, which made people wonder how can she be related to her father. Her classmates and professors were shocked by, in the nicest words possible, her boneheadedness as one time, she once thought that Canada is part of the U.S. since both countries are part of North America. And so she barely passed college and got a journalist degree with the bare minimum grades and GPA needed to pass. She didn't have the best credibility in the industry as she would constantly mess up stories and get things wrong. She tried to be charismatic and witty when on the camera like her father once was, but it was obvious to people that she did not inherit those genes nor had the talent for it as it was like her in school trying to use big and complex words to stretch out the word count and make the essay look deep and insightful, when in reality it's just pretentious and full of fluff. Somehow through sheer luck, she managed to land a spot on a big network show and right when the network was about to fire her due to her incompetence, she got into an incident with a cult that left her permanently pregnant with a demon baby. After the incident, the network's show's viewership went up and seeing her potential, the network decided to keep her. Not only that, but they also gave her more prominent roles, extended her screen time, and made her positioned in a way with the camera set up and pointed in a certain way to make sure the audience saw her full potential. This made some of her coworkers infuriated as they had worked hard to get into the position they are now, only for someone like Jane to get knocked up and be more successful than them. But it's not like they have much of a choice but to tolerate her as she is the network's cash cow and it's not like she was most qualified or skilled person for the job in the first place, which made it very difficult for her to get fired. Despite Jane still trying to act like a reputable reporter, she could literately just sit there and do absolutely nothing and nothing would change as no one from the network to the audience takes her seriously as they see her belly as her best quality trait.
