The way the rocks, together with the water, are portrayed in this photograph is just wonderful. and the light coming from the sun which is very evident on the mountains at the back is beautiful! Great shot!

the small spots of light cracking through on the nearby rock shelf almost looks unreal with the contrast, but the slightly out of focus mountain in the background shows you where the light is being thrown. classic and wonderful capture.

Thanks for a nice remark about the angle & lighting.

It was taken on a late afternoon in the middle of October and the sun was pretty low on the left-hand side. On contrast, the sky towards the east was incredibly filled/closed down by thick clouds.
That fact made me compose this shot the way I did because I wanted to emphasize the "closed down" impression.

This is close to the end of Seydisfjordur, a fjord situated in north/eastern Iceland.
