I am really thankful for the attention I have received on this piece. I put a lot of work into it. I made all the bulbs by hand and broke quite a number in my hands causing a few injuries not to mention the day we shot this we hiked up a mountain in freezing weather and my poor model has to stand in it with very little clothing. We were all in a lot of pain by the end of it but it was well worth it. Thank you guys.

First of all, the light colors look so beautiful. It's a very serene picture. One more thing I like... is the contrast between the whites and the grey from the branches... really lovely. Thirdly the light pink... looks great, it's really a opp of color against the background and stuff... it's a well taken photo.

And if I do have to point out something, firstly it's the lightness of the color pink as well as the glass of those 'bulbs' which are not prominent enough to me to make it 'stand out' you know. The model could've managed to be in the middle of the photo so she had bulbs around her rather than more on one side than the other.... cause the number of bulbs is lesser. Her hair merge into the background and I didn't like that eye make-up.... but other than that it's a lovely piece of work!

I do like the concept behind the picture, but there are a few things to make some improvements. personally I would have cropped the right side a bit more there is not a lot going on on that side. just till her arm and shoulder by doing that the face and eyes of the model would not be so in the middle of the picture and she would be more prominent into the picture and looking to the space on the left side of the frame. (just cover the right side with your hands to see the difference.)

It's hard to get good lighting in these conditions, however you could have used some strobes to make the background a bit darker. If you just want to work with available daylight maybe you could do something in the after processing (burn and dodge tool) and make the background a stop or more darker. the model and the bulbs would pop out more. now the bulbs get a bit lost due to the branches and lost of white in the background.

love the model , hair and makeup! hands are difficult in a picture...maybe you should have covered them with here beautiful hair. I don't like the hair under her arm, personally I think it would been nicer if her hair would be over the arm, so the only skin tones you would see would be of here face so even more attention would go to the face.

I love the mood and it must have been hell for her to pose in this cold wether!

overall its a good concept and a lot of attention was made for the props, styling and posing! good job!

Omigosh! This is a fantastic photograph capturing the whole Winter scene! As you mentioned in your description (that you made the lamps be yourself), they are beautiful! I can just make out that background behind her, the cold crisp air with the freezing weather and the trees or covered with snow... Brrr... Also the expression on her face just captures the scene of the chilly weather. I would also like to mention how you photographed the position perfectly in the exact position and spot.
This has gotto be one of my favourite pieces of work. I wish you good luck to your future art works.

Beautiful. I don't believe that this needs any improvement at all. The camera focus is excellent. Although I think the lighting is kind of bright but overall, this looks very professional. The concept is just brilliant. Her facial expression seems sad and kind of down, which is perfect because it just fits in with the background. In winter, it is said that a high percentage of people seem to be negatively affected by the weather; meaning, that they feel much more depressed due to the condition of the weather. I like this a lot so I think you should keep doing what you are doing. Excellent work.

This is so beautiful. The artwork is very eyecatching and you are drawn to it immediately. The Vision is very effective; the wintry background tying in with the girls makeup and expression perfectly. The detail caught in the fore and mid ground contrasts with the out of focus background and pulls your attention to the girl. The techniques used are very skillful, the lightbulbs and flowers make the scene seem all most mystical. This piece is very original, I don't think I've seen another piece similar.
This scene manages to convey a great deal of emotion, and I love the 3d effect created by the branches that stand out from the rest.
If I were to suggest an improvement on this piece it would be to add more lightbulbs behind the girl.
Amazing piece well done.

Good work I like the composition overall good lines and the lightbulbs feels like dots that add impact.

The modelling is good I can sense feeling in it, seems like a cold day but it do not feel like it bothers.

The colours work very well together I like the washed out look
est the winterish background, lovely vintage.

Trying to come up with at least something that could be improved but I find it really hard I like this photo too much so I guess all I can say is congrats and good job. You really nailed this shot. <3

This is a very wonderful piece. Its very original. I like the soft colours and how she looks so cold and wants spring to happen. The light bulbs and flowers was a good idea and her blonde hair works really well with the surroundings.

It would have been cool if she had ice on her shoulders or something. She also looks very comfy during this shot but i think there should have been a little more lip make up and a brighter face. Overall it is a brilliant piece, would write more but im pretty lazy tonight and i would ramble on forever!

Ice work!! get its nice work ^.^ winter...ice..
never mind!

I think this is absolutely breathtaking. I saw it on the deviations page and was instantly drawn to it. The contrast of skin and captured pink against the white snow is very visually striking, and the blond hair adds to a gentle transition.
I also like how the background isn't focused - I think it draws even more to the bright colors of the flowers. This is a very creative idea, and you captured it perfectly.
Overall, this is one of the best pictures I've seen on dA in a long time - I wish I could give it an even higher rating!
Well done - this is incredible.

I am impressed with the Vision of this piece the most, it shows the feeling of many of us right now as we dream of leaving winter's embrace for the more passionate, emotional and vibrant entrance of spring. The Model's visage communicates that directly, the background providing a natural and desolate scene that is highly contrasted by the bulbs of flowers (anyone else notice that they are bulbs with flowers in them... when many flowers are born from... bulbs?) I thought the allusion to the bulbs/bulbs thing is part of what made this piece so original and I felt like I had not seen an instance yet of yearning for spring to be done in this method (though everyone has been talking about it, so the concept is not new).
The image is crisp and clear, and like another reviewer, I do not see the need for this to have bulbs in the background, in fact I feel like that would saturate piece, leaving it devoid of pungent messaging. I also feel that it would delude the impact of the piece. What I cannot decide upon is the choosing of the particular model. A darker complected model with dark hair may provide more contrast while this model is great too because her fair complexion makes me wonder if she is representative of Winter and that she yearns to be spring? That would be a very Mucha inspired concept (in fact he has multiple pieces that are panels of seasons, with each individual representing a season).
Over all I am very impressed and would not be surprised if I were to step into a photographers home and find this to be an art piece on his/her wall because it is that well done.

I would like to congratulate you on making this work of art as curiously spectacular as it is.The way you have realized your ideas is absolutely prodigious. The quality of this artwork makes it distinct that you put your soul into it with your gratuitous capacity of talents. The foreground of this art work is greatly conforming for the emotion that I sense you are attempting to create, but now that I think about it this statement is probably trivial. On the other hand, I contemplate that your implementation of rendering could have been a lot better as I feel that it wasn't able to equal the quality obvious in the whole of the artwork. To finish I would like to declare that it has been a joy to write this assessment for you and I think it will empower you to upgrade your creation.

I like the concept, but I'd like it more if some of the bulbs full of petals were in the background, because having this many makes it feel a bit crowded. Nice composition though, great idea. I especially like the model's makeup and the snow complimenting her blonde hair; it really gives the photo a classier, more elegant feel to it. One more thing is that you might want to consider cropping off a little of the sides, but that's just my opinion based only off of my preference.

And I love the beautiful pink of the flowers against the light background (and model), it really draws the viewer's attention to the concept of the image.
Keep up the good work.

I'm going to talk about this piece as if it were hanging up in a art gallery from my professional and personal point of view. To me, it seems as if the woman feels trapped and confined - cold. The cold could represent sadness, depression, hatred... Something she cannot escape. The pink flowers possibly represent happiness - how it is just a reach away... Yet she cannot have it. There are barriers she must overcome to reach said happiness, but in doing so she must break the bulb and shatter the glass - "will she feel pain or get hurt in any way"? That question. That /fear/ is what is holding her back from happiness. The fear of getting in in the pursuit of finding that happiness.

The Makeup is stunning and the scenery was well chosen. I love the flower concept and the whole picture looks like it came out of a snow white fairytale.

The model was well dressed for this picture. It looks well on the model alone, same with the scenery. But when you put them together, Something magical happens- It creates a beautiful visual experience. Her position really gives out the theme of this photo. Everything that goes with this photo was breathtaking- the scenery, the concept, the model. This picture is too picture-perfect to ignore.

The whole flower-light bulb concept was well thought. Again, it looks like a fairytale. The season choice of Winter was a great choice. I have fallen in love with this photo because the colors don't clash. The colors were very well chosen. The photo is very graceful, also very calm.

The snow suits the picture very well. This picture has originality, and i like it. The whole picture just draws in your mind so deep that whenever you think about photos you think about this one. The whole picture was breathtaking, interesting, graceful, calm, and most of all, beautiful and memorable. I will remember this picture forever, and how amazing it looked. If this appeared in a professional fairytale book, i would not even think a smidgen about " how did this get in here?" You know why? In this amazing photo, Such a thought does not exist, and it is completely impossible to invent.
Breathtaking job!

The concept and impact on this one runs deep.
The colors are very well picked and even the makeup is defined and catching. Without it u couldn't help but only stare at the flowers in these light bulbs.

Even if I didn't really get why it would be light bulbs where the spring flowers would be held captive in, I'm totally in love with this piece.

Somehow the sccene's really calm and soothing. The model has a kind of fairytale princess attitude to her, because of her kind of graceful (don't know how to put in other words) expression.
The whole piece looks like right out of a modern fairytale book.

Well done!

Such a hauntingly ethereal shot where the elements are more felt and permeating with deeper view rather than directly conveyed. The model has a whispy yet weighted beauty with a round figure and rich, cascading hair, her pose and downward stare not only helps showcase lovely golden eyeshadow but gets the right balance b/w gently delicate and firmly grounded under a thoughtful feel in a internal, floating world of the cold background. (The snow-capped nature is also perfect in juxtaposing her warm softness also) Also the flower blossoms within hanged light bulbs is a very creative touch, the tiny snow caps on its ends integrates it as part of the environment as opposed to a deliberate prop.

It must have been very freezing out there to make this shot to major props to you and the model for this! Very breathtaking photo~
