It is good to be recognised by someone with an academic background. Thank you for the feature in your gallery. I find it amazing how such a disaster in such an awesome place can actualy make a good picture. People that have not visited the place cannot grasp the damage footprints in the wet clay does. It only rains there perhaps once every 7 to 10 years for it to really matter. This in itself also creates another spectale. A pan that mirrors the image around it. This makes the view even more surreal. This footprint might take about 10 years to disintigrate. Very sad indeed for the person who coined the phraze "Take only pictures and leave only footprints behind" in some anti-litter campaign.

Very interesting.
Is this footprint about 700 years old also?

Luckely not. Some idiot thought it would be fun to walk in the wet clay in February this year when it rained. This is a very rare occasion. The whole pan then looks like a mirror, reflecting the surroundngs. The water can only evaporate and has nowhere to flow to. The clay is also very dense so little of the water actually seeps into the ground. People from all over the country leave their homes to view this. I happens perhaps perhaps every 7 years or so. So this footprint will be there for at least another 10 years! .It really is a shame
