Was that gug as a human? If so, I'm not sure how I feel about that. Also, isn't dreaming of elder things and octogods (tm) how most Lovecraft stories happen?

I'm loving these series of comics; they're awesomely illustrated, and I love Aria's and Gug's personalities 
This one is very curious though; why'd she dream of that guy, and are more ominious things going to happen?
I wonder if the huge creature on the background on the second panel is Gug's true form or something?
