I rendered it in POV-Ray. You can use a gray-scale gradient to define a texture transition.

I doodle on my little Palm. For a while I tried uploading the doodles and posting them as-is here, but there were too many, and the process got tedious.

I doodle, when the meeting is boring and I'm not directly involved. It even helps me pay attention, sometimes.
I guess good old pen and paper work best for me.

I'll never forget the time my 8th grade teacher halted a lecture to ask me what I was so busy writing. I said, "Nothing." Red flag to a teacher, right? She stalked back to my desk to see for herself, and saw that I had been doing penmanship drills, like Drill 1 here...

She just looked, and walked back to the front of the class saying, "You're so right," and resumed the lecture.
I was a real problem for teachers in my own way...
