Description well I was commissioned to do this piece by CrimsonMight I sincerely hope he likes it as well as any one else who looks at this piece. Bassically issue 9 was the last really great fathom comic in my opinion, after that things started going down hill as far as the art is concerned until ultimately resulting in the decimation of the franchise by various artists working for Aspen MLT. So to me this piece represents a fond farewell to my days of drawing Fathom since bassically I learned to draw useing the first 9 issues of the series. I can remmeber many days of sitting in the commons at my community college looking at issue 5 and using it as reference so I could learn to draw. and I remmeber wishing to God that I could draw and color something like this, and now that I can....... I am loving it. but it reminds me of all the hard work I put in to get to where I am today, and it also reminds me of all the work I still have ahead of me. so farewell to my fathom days, alot of good memories there. enjoy one and all.

Well that explains why I thought all your artwork was Michael's. I have a soft spot for issue 9 myself, i bought six copies of it, the first time my fan art was ever published (at the loving age of 13) Keep up the amazing work, I have some of turner's prints on my walls and i had to do triple takes of your art.

hehe, awe. Yeppers, a lot of people see the similarities in my work with Mr. Turner's work. I used to draw Fathom and witchblade all the time to learn how to draw comics becasue there wasnt much else in the comic world really appealed to me. Any ways, this piece was kind of a final farewell to my Fathom drawing days. Since then, I have started my own company, and so I've been workin on that. You should come and check out the web site, and maybe if you are interested sign up for the feedback boards. Some really cool friendly people hang out there.

Any ways thank you for your absolutely splendid comment take good care maddam, and have a happy New Year.

particle9 In reply to bilheteira [2006-02-14 01:22:45 +0000 UTC]

well at the moment I only have one issue. I just released the first issue a little while ago, and Im still trying to get people to know who we are, and that we are out there. have the buying fan base grow so I can even afford to put out another book. I dumped my own personal savings into this, so until I get that back I wont have any way of making another book. so as soon as I recover my overhead Ill print out the next issue. we are also working on a concept right now for a weekly funny comic that will premiere on the site. just a little comedy skit much like you read in the sunday funnies in the paper. the current web site is not easily updatable. So there is information missing unfortunantly. but Version 2 solves that problem. hopefully. hehe Any ways if you would like a copy of the book just let me know, send a check and Ill ship you the book.

cheers

you dont me to tell youthat is pretty sweet work... did micheal turner die and posses your hand or something... this could definately pass as turner... and i'd even believe liquid! colored it in... (did liquid! color for fathom? i liked the art but i was never in to that particular series... around that time i was all about filling in the blanks of my silver age x-men collection cuz i was unhappy with the writing of that era... the art was second to none but the storylines all started going to hell right baout the time fathom did... sad .... but you have serious talent.. keep up the good work.)

oh yeah... nom-anor was right too... nice ass... (particularly nice water drippage as well... comics might still be strong today if the industry had more multi talented folks around such as yourself .... thanks for sharing.

you want the truth? can you handle the truth? I think you can so here is how it is done. I desperately run out into my yard frantically looking for the flatest twig I can find, Once found I break it into three groups of 2, I then say a prayer over them as I throw them into a fire that I have just made in the center of my floor screaming at the top of my lungs BURN! BURN!!!!!!!! than I take the ashes from this multitude of twigs that have been set ablaze in a raging inferno that has now decimated my house. I seeze the burning coles with my bare hands and I begin to carve them into a slice of granite, the only surviving thing in my newly insinerated house. However, as I carve...... things become quite clear....... I have just had a really weird dream, I startle myself awake to the squawking of an annoying bird outside my window, only too look outside to see daylight and to see my alarm clock blinking mockingly at me saying five o clock AM: I then sit up from my slumped over position with keyboard imprints all over my face only too stare strait ahead of me at the warm glow of the computer monitor, and what I see startles me........ a fully colored composition right in front of me, and I think to myself.................................. ........................................ .............its those ELVES again.

so there it is. thats my story and I will never stick to it. why? because its beyond beliefe....fact? or fiction.... you decide

You did that.. wow.. I read those comics.. I realise how much work went into this.. I bet its a sigh of releif when its finished though... .. used to read the micheal Turner ones he did for The tomb raider comics. but stopeed since the comics focused more and more of how many Ass shots Lara can have in a frame... people fail to realise that women love comics too.. but i like this pic though.. hope you don't mind me watching you and faving this..

hehe, no I dont mind. feel free to download any thing from my gallery...after all thats why I make stuff. I agree about the Tomb raider comment though

Kass-Craven In reply to particle9 [2005-02-08 13:45:08 +0000 UTC]

OMG.. you answered back thanks, since I understand how busy animators and artists are. I would love to do comic book work, got asked to go to a studio in Cardiff in the UK to visit and see if it apeals to me.. I would love to, but I feel my comic experience is rather low, so I will stick with 2D animation... and progress into CG. but I do envy people like you... .. and I hope the people publishing tombraider will change... I loved the comic I also loved the fathom and witchblade crossover..
Thanks for letting me download your stuff... its nice to see artists letting people do that.. you get so many artists nowadays telling you off for having their art on a desktop... sheesh, it's not like I would sell it or anything.. but I do disagree with people putting up other peoples art on public display without their permission... I was a victim once.. browsing through dev art and I saw my work and thought.. WTF? the guy copied my idea but just modified it slightly.. hmmm...

question is.. have you insured your hand yet?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

particle9 In reply to Kass-Craven [2005-02-08 19:36:27 +0000 UTC]

haha, no I havent insured it.... I sword fight also so they probably wouldnt have me O_o. yeah I agree there are alot of artists that are too arogant for their own good to let people have something for nothing. I really dont care for the most part. what I do is really for me and if other people like it than Im happy to share it. I would get a little upset if some one sold something of mine and then did not credit me. mostly I just want the credit afterall, and I suppose for me that's really payment enough.....after all what is worth more than good PR and advertising to raise awareness? nothing in my book. so you are looking to get into computer animation with programs like 3d studio max maya and lightwave? let me know how that goes, because Im an indie film maker and I could possibly use a good CG artist to make me some awesome matt paintings for chromakeying. if you would be interested that is.... (begs) hehe

heh heh.. well at the moment I'm a 2d animator.. it will be a LONG time before I make it into actuall animation.. we all start off as runners and I am still in universaty.. my final year.. scary.. but yeah.. 3dsm and maya.. I have dabbled in it and it looks fun.. I did a leg and connected it wrong and it moved funny.. oopsie..

EXCELLENT! BEAUIFUL!! I am like how you were.. I stare at my Street Fighter comics by UDON and Image.. And I pray that I get to that level, that calibur somday.. and I keep practicing! How did you get into it finally?! GOOD WORK!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

particle9 In reply to jpzilla [2005-02-07 23:40:09 +0000 UTC]

um, Im not sure what you mean by "get into it finally" but I started drawing because up until the point I started drawing fathom art, I drew sonic the hedgehog, and I was getting bored with it because I had always wanted to learn how to draw people. so one day I went to the comic shop, looked around picked up comic after comic that had a cool cover and was disappointed to see that none of the cool covers had cool interiors, I felt cheated like false advertising, until I picked up fathom #5 and thought hey thats a cool cover, I've never been one for dark demonic subject matter like most of the stuff top cow makes so when I found that issue of fathom I got my hopes up, and then I looked inside and it was the same guy doing the inside art too. so in my opinion it was the only book in the entire store worth buying. Ive never really been a big comic book fan; however, Ive always been fond of drawing. in fact for quitea few years thats all I did. for all of my working at it I never really achieved the quality in figure drawing that I wanted but I hid alot of it with super amounts of detail, then one day I learned how to color. and coloring was simpler, and less time consuming, so my drawings started to be very minimal just so I could color them. then one day I found that I was getting quicker at drawing because I was getting figure drawing practice without the detail. so now what used to take a few hours takes me like 5 minutes. And now, in the last year I was going through all my old 11x17" portfolios and found that I really detailed the hell out of my drawings. the anatomy is off on all of them but then.... when has Mike's work ever been porportiantly correct, acctually not too many of the really popular comic artists work is proportioned just right.... I suppose that is why it is called comic art. but hey we all like what we like and pick at what we want to pick at. at any rate. IVe been desperately working to try to recapture the amount of detail I used to get in my drawings.... but for all my trying I call short because in the back of my mind I know that when Im done......Im going to have to color the damn thing cause I still dont have a colorist

so thats all I can tell ya about that. sorry about the length hehe but I hope it was informative.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jpzilla In reply to particle9 [2005-02-08 16:04:25 +0000 UTC]

I see, thats good that you found that comic. I'm really into the Street Fighter comic right now.. I love the art. The covers are excellent and mostly done by the person who draws inside.. which is a lot better art than most of the comics that I have seen. I have been drawing them for a while now and I'm working on coloring one of my drawing inspired by the comic.. I'm new to coloring so I'm experimenting a lot.. and I probably should take a Photoshop class or something.. I'm getting better at coloring though, as you can see if you look at my first "Victory" colors to my new "Grostieta: Victory" color.. and I did them back to back, but I learned a lot in the process so that's why it looks cleaner and better overall. Are you trying to get a job or do you get paid for your art already? I guess that's what I meant when I asked "how do you get into it". I'm getting a lot of great feedback and pointers from big shots in the industry.. so I'm hoping to put all that into good use. Anyways, good luck and keep at it. Your stuff looks good

Ah, very beautiful indeed. (I'm sure Crimson Might'll be happy with it!) I have the "Child of Two Worlds novel sitting right next to me - I noticed the decline in good art for it aswell, somewhere around Issue #9.

I love how you drew Aspen, - and Killian, though the symmetry of his eyes and size of his forehead are a little off. No matter, there's just so much to look at that one could not notice these things.
I really like how you coloured the water - has a nice glowy and fine texture to it.

The colouring and lineart aren't quite as sharp as Turner (or Weems/Sibal), but they really are fantastic in your own way!
