Edward hopper simplified, but you capture the essence of the city and then control the colors and shapes bringing out their feel. I honestly love this, and wish I could get my stuff half as good as this one day.
have you ever tried a traditional figure study using directed sunlight on a darkened subject?
I remember At The Rhode island school of design spending a few hours looking at one of their paintings depicting a a woman drawing a bath with a thin beam of sunlight the main light source. I think with the way you can capture and manipulate both abstract shapes and direct light you might just blow away that museum piece!
