Description Everything done in Blender and rendered in Cycles.

I created this to experiment with more realistic grass. I noticed that a common problem in my renders was that the grass wasn't realistic so I watched a few tutorials and used a grass asset pack to create some more realistic grass.
I also wanted to try some things with sculpting so I sculpted the stump at the pond and the large log on the right.

Great work; I could walk my dog here. Very convincing.

The grass, log and stump look very realistic. Only the pond does not look convincing. I don't even know why xD This still is a very good render

Thanks. It might be to flat, maybe some more wrinkles will make it more realistic?

Honestly, the only thing I can see wrong with the pond, is how the "shoreline" just ends near the top left. Everywhere else on the edge of the pond the grass stops growing and you can see the dirt. But at the top left bit of the pond, the shore line just disappears without reason and the grass is now growing in the water. More ripples in the water would make no sense unless the wind is blowing rather hard, which it doesn't appear to be, or it's not a pond and is in fact part of a river/stream.

Maybe, but I think the reason it looks weird is because it's reflecting a blue sky. The sky over the trees in the background is white though. So the reflection should not be showing clouds and a clear blue sky.

The reflections are correct. The entire scene uses an HDRI image. The IOR for the material on the water is set to use the real water IOR so can't see why the reflection would cause an issue.

I had to take a closer look and that is a very convincing realistic image!
Great work! I'm jealous

How much polygons there are? How much render time? Nice realistic look

Render time was about 45min on dual GTX 980ti

Total polygons was alright. The grass is a particle system so that's been calculated upon rendering.
The most polygons are in the dead log on the right but that's around 100k. The higher details are mapped using normal maps. I sculpted on much higher details (1+ million polygons) but baked a normal with the details.

That is much shorter and much lower then I tought, nice job
I am not into GPU rendering, might look into it..

Not sure about the stump in the pond, not even sure it makes sense but the grass and the dead log on the right are fantastic.

Thanks. I think you're right. Initially I didn't have it but I was playing with the idea of increasing the pond to a lake and have a small pier so the stump could be used to tie a rope.
