Description
Melody and Heartbeat squeezed through the crowd of ponies and creatures eager to watch what was about to happen. This festival was completely new to Melody, so she wasn’t sure what was about to happen, or why everycreature was so excited. But she knew that anything that was able to bring this many creatures together at once was certainly something to investigate. Melody continued to push through the large crowd as she heard the sound of trumpets played by the castle guards, alerting everycreature that the princess was about to make her appearance. It took her a moment, but Melody was finally able to find a comfortable spot while having a clear view of the stage. On the stage stood four guards along with symbols that looked like a sun on the left, and a moon on the right. Shortly, something… or rather somepony else came up on stage.
This figure shared physical similarities to her mother; a tall angelic body with a horn and pair of large, majestic wings, both when combined made the defining features of the alicorn species. Unlike Melody’s mother, however, this alicorn had an overall more welcoming and vibrant vibe to her. This alicorn had a lovely shade of purple fur, along with long hair similar to her mother’s before she lost her spark, but with two stripes of different shades of purple and magenta, and golden armor. Melody was immediately getting much different vibes from this alicorn than the one that she had spent her entire life with.
“Welcome everycreature, so the Festival of the Two Sisters.” The alicorn said loud and proud. “I’m so glad to see so many of you hear, both fellow ponies and many other creatures of different shapes and sizes. We gather here today to honor the princesses who came before me, Celestia, and Luna. On this day, we remember the very day when Luna reformed from her villainous ways and restored her bond with her sister. They’ve done everything in their power to protect us and keep us safe, and now we honor their commitment and their legacy with this festival. Without them, I would not be where I am today, and I owe so much to their teachings.”
Although Melody was not very familiar with history outside of her home city of Melodious, she knew that the events that Twilight spoke of must have been revolutionary for their world. The way that this new alicorn spoke was confident, proud, and had a caring undertone, like the voice of a fellow friend rather than someone in a demanding position of authority, which Melody has had negative experiences with for years. The way that she stood on stage proudly, towering over her fellow ponies had Melody captivated, a brave and powerful leader without a spec of cynicism emanating from her. Melody was drawn to her, this princess, which she recalled from Heartbeat’s explanations from earlier; Twilight Sparkle, the princess of friendship and the element of magic.
“And now it’s time to begin the second half of this festival by raising the moon and making way for the night, the domain of Princess Luna. The night brings us together, calling us to unite us in protection amongst friends, and the stars above have guided ponies for centuries. And in our dreams, Luna would not be too far behind. So as I raise the moon, let us remember that the night is just as important as the day and that together they create balance, the embodiment of harmony.”
Twilight stretched her wings out and began to flap them, raising her hoofs from the ground as she began to fly upwards. Her horn glowed a vibrant shade of magenta as she used her magic to lower the sun and raise the moon above her. The sky began to change from a bright calming blue to a bold blue leaning on the edge of violet. The stars began to take formation as the moon slowly began to rise, an image that left Melody captivated, seeing how powerful magic could be, even in the most caring of ponies. As Twilight was complete bringing the moon into full view as she flew up, she struck a majestic pose, as light ways from the moonlight weaved passed her. The light combined with Twilight’s pose, along with the speech and magic that she unleashed, had Melody memorized along with so many other creatures in the crowd. If Melody didn’t know any better, she would likely have called Twilight a goddess; she certainly gave off the vibe of one.
The crowd cheered happily, ponies stomped their hooves, the griffins squawked, and the dragons roared their mighty proud roars. Melody simply stood in silence, which made Heartbeat concerned for a second, until she realized that Melody was simply captivated by the visual sight before her. Heartbeat wasn’t surprised, since she had been around for the entirety of Twilight’s reign thus far, and she knew that Twilight doesn’t disappoint.
Heartbeat pushed Melody’s gaping mouth as she brought her attention back to her surroundings. “What did I tell ya? She’s really something isn’t she?”
“I’ll say,” Melody said. “She’s so… angelic”
“If I had a bit for every time I heard that. I'd be a very wealthy pony” Heartbeat said with a mild sense of playful snark in her tone of voice.
Twilight slowly lowered herself to the ground where she once stood, and closed her wings. She smiled as she watched the crowd cheer and applaud for her. She had been ruling for at least fifteen years by now, but she never grew tired of seeing her subjects rejoice in the impact that she had made for them thus far. Twilight made it her mission to live up to her mentor’s legacy, and to be a symbol of harmony and friendship that everycreature in Equestria and beyond could look up to. Moments like this served as a reminder that she was doing exactly that and doing a good job at it too.
“Thank you everycreature. I will be back again when it’s time to raise the sun, and commence the closing ceremonies for this year’s Festival of the Two Sisters. In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of the event and farewell for now.”
As Twilight climbed off stage from the back, the crowd spread out to the rest of the festival grounds, eager to enjoy many more of the festivities that the event had to offer. However Melody had just remembered what she came here for, not to simply party and mingle, but to seek help from the element of magic that she had just seen onstage. She needed to get in touch with Twilight directly and ask for her help in bringing her home city back to peace.
Melody tries to make her way backstage but was stopped in her path by two guards that blocked her way. It became quickly apparent that Melody hadn’t thought this all the way through, and that she would need a way to get to Twilight without her guards getting in the way. Was there even a way to bypass the guards, or would this be a lost cause?
