Description “Ah! Look Mommy! This one looks just like your cutie mark!” Harmony cried out, giggling as the pale pink butterfly bounced off her nose into the air.

Watching it as it flew away, Fluttershy said, “You’re right, it sorta does.”

“I want a cutie mark just like yours Mommy!” She said, grinning up at her mother with pride.

“Oh Harmony, cutie marks don’t work that way,” said Fluttershy, cupping her hoof under daughters chin. “Each cutie mark is uniquely special to each pony. Your cutie mark won’t and can’t look like mine, because it will look just you.”

Harmony blinked a couple of times, letting it set in.

”Ooooooooooooooh.....then, when will I get mine, Mommy?” Harmony asked enthusiastically.

Fluttershy chuckled. “When the time is right, sweetie. When the time is right.”

Momma and daughta interactions! :3

Here’s a little bit more insight into their relationship~

Harmony is a daddy’s girl through and through, but she adamantly adores Fluttershy and firmly believes that she really is the best mom ( with a whole shelf of ‘Best Mom Ever’ trophies to prove it.) Harmony is quite opposite from her mother, but as you can see from Discord and Fluttershy's relationship, this isn’t a problem for the yellow Pegasus. Instead, Fluttershy sees their differences as a strength to their bond, rather than a divider, and is proud to see some of her own qualities shine through her daughter, such as compassion and sweetness ( which are Harmony’s only redeeming qualities for someponies.)

Because Harmony was such a impulsive and disobedient  ̶H̶a̶r̶m̶o̶n̶y̶ ̶w̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶s̶a̶y̶ ̶c̶u̶r̶i̶o̶u̶s̶ child , Fluttershy had a lot of trouble raising her. Arguements, fights, and frustrations of all kinds were commonplace, and Fluttershy had to consistently correct her, but in the 'tough love' kinda way. Fluttershy had to use a lot of that with Harmony. But in the end, through all the struggles and difficult times, Fluttershy still loves her daughter with all her heart and only wants what’s best for her. As for Harmony, she wouldn’t trade her mom for anypony, knowing she can always count on her mom when it comes to solid advice and emotional support.

They’re both as different in their likes and dislikes as they are in the character, but that doesn’t mean they don’t find ways to spend time together. One thing they have in common is their love for nature, which prompeted many many picnics, hikes, scavenger hunts, camping trips, and many other outdoor excursions. Even as Harmony got older, they both still enjoy a tea party once in a while with the addition of bird watching ( they have a competition of who can name the most. Usually, Fluttershy let’s Harmony win.) Harmony also enjoys helping her mother with her animal sanctuary, which could be said is an excuse to get out of homework sometimes. Fluttershy tried to teach her daughter how to cook, but after the fourth time Harmony made the soup, sentient, Fluttershy hung up the towel.

Whew, that was a lot to write. Let me know if you think this is too much/ not enough. I’d hate to overload people with too much content.😅

Hope your enjoying you pr days as much as these two are. :3

Note: Harmony loved dressing up her Mommys mane when ever she could with whatever she could. That includes not only flowers, but every stick, leaf, and vine of every kind. Fluttershy doesn’t mind, but she drew the line when Harmony started putting bugs in her mane.

It’s nice to know that despite their differences, Fluttershy and Harmony still have a good relationship and can find things to bond over. We need more parent-child relationships like this!

I’m so glad you appreciate that! ^^ Indeed. Although, would you say that more in the context of IRL parent-child relationships, or more Next gen related?

It could apply to both, but especially in real-life relationships. Parents and children don’t always see eye to eye as we know, and sometimes this can hurt their relationship for the long run. It’s nice when a parent can respect their child’s individuality and the child can respect their parent for who they are without clashing over it (y’know, aside from normal disciplinary issues). It’s a healthy relationship for both parties and lets them both grow as individuals!

I see. That’s a great, no, fantastic way of putting it; and I whole heartedly agree we do need more of those.
