Absolutely awesome picture! I agree that the simplicity is amazing, and you're beautiful! The picture is so light and full of impact also. The only suggestion is that the eye is not sharp, which is a problem in portraits, but of course it's difficult when taking a self-portrait!

I like how the eye is nice and sharp. I really like that look. But if you ever get bored, try playing around with the colour tempurature of the photo. See what happens when you cool off the photo. I think it would accentuate the red of your hair. Also, that 50 f/1.8 would totally blur out the background, but hey, you know how to use what you have, and that is great. I like this shot a lot. if I were a photo teacher I would give 10/10.

I'm still confused with all the shutterspeed and aparture stuff, i know how to change it, its just what affects change the picture, and I do play around with image temp, its fun, but i stick with the one i always use just for random pics ahaha. and no, you are not annoying, i like getting feedback on my photos :]

YAY! Anywho, whatever tempurature you choose and makes you happy, then run with it. This is art, not a science. Anywho, I have set up a little assignment that helped me understand Aperture and shutterspeed, hope it helps.
Anywho, try this technical exercise should you accept it. I know, technical, its boring, but it'll show you what each thing does. Set up a vase or pair of shoes, or something that you can focus on that is relatively close (maybe a meter or three feet away). And go into the Av mode for this. Take a picture at 55mm (zoomed in all the way) at f/5.6, f/8, f/11, and f/16. while you are doing that, pay attention to your shutter speed during this, and see what happens during f/16 compared to f/5.6. After you've taken the photos, look at them on the computer and look at the background in each of the shots. You should notice that (assuming no camera shake which shouldn't occur all that much assuming you have your IS switch set to the "on" position) the background is coming clearer and clearer. But also, try shooting the F/16 photo without IS on. You should see some camera shake indoors. Which is one thing that the S/S controls is how "frozen" everything is in your photo. Say if you are taking a sports shot such as basketball, you can get some freaking abstract shots if you use a shutter speed like 1/60th of a second, but most of the time they are blurred, where as if I used a shutter speed of 1/250th of a second, the subject is nice and sharp (assuming I had the correct focus on the image).

I see potential for a pop art edit here. Leave your hair, eyes, lips, and maybe that necklace too in colour and desaturate the rest of the image. I think it would look cool, just thought I would put it out there. anyways, have a good one eh?
