CIRCA. 1998In this unfinished X-Men splash page I did from 1998, I thought I was going to be Chris Bachalo and Tim Townsend rolled up into one. I was crazy over Chris's art style back in 1998 (still am) and Townsend's inks were/are pure magic!
Makes me laugh now looking back at the insane mindset I had back then.
While it's GREAT to emulate your comic book art heroes, you will NEVER be even close to the original artists style.
My point is to BE YOUR OWN ARTIST!
Develop your own art style!
Lines/inks:
*All X-Men characters portrayed here are a hacked attempt on my part to be the next Bachalo/Townsend and these fine characters belong to Disney (and care-taken by the now rich Marvel Comics).

I am trying, but since I found this website the influence on me has been overwhelming. I'm not trying to be like any other artest or trying to bite anyone eles style, but I have picked up some great guide lines, and tips. Because of these things it realy helped me want to pick up the lead again and by the way your work is kick ass.

you say hacked, and although it's not "your" best work this is still miles ahead of allot of paid pro's stuff coming out today... in my opinion.
this has allot of energy and power to it, something i'd say seems to be missing from comics as of late... you just don't see characters leaping out of the pages anymore, they just look like a snapshot in time these days
honestly, these images you've been posting, truly make me miss 90's comic art
