Description Common Name: Rock Hyrax
Common Name Synonyms: Dassie, Rock Rabbit, Cape Hyrax
Scientific Name: Procavia capensis
Size: 40-60cm long from snout to short tail, 20-30cm tall in the shoulders, males are 10% heavier than females
Classification: Afrothere
Habitat: Mountains, Savannahs, Jungles
Diet: Herbivorous and insectivorous, diet consisted of broad-leafed plants, insects, and grubs
Description: Smallest of the afrotheres, hyraxes looked a lot like rodents and short-tailed digging marsupials, such as the wombat, but the hyrax was more closely related to all pachyderms, rather than their look-alikes. The soles of the feet are moist and rubber-like, providing the hyrax with a good grip as it clambers around its steep, rocky habitats. Rodents have buck-teeth like incisors, but the hyraxes have tusk-like incisors, which it's more of a reminiscent of an elephant. Some hyraxes lived groups of 50 members, and a group is dominated by males with glands. Despite the group is more of a colony, a hyrax colony had a lot of lookout sentries. The sentries of the group will keep a lookout for predators, like leopards, snakes, raptors, caracals, wolves, and rare predators( like lions, hyenas, bears, dogs, and other predators who sees the hyrax being the tastiest). Although they have a clumsy built, but they are excellent climbers on trees, which they are leaf-eaters. They have a misconceptions from ancient Israelis and some creators of the Bible contain the hyrax,  giving the hyraxes a said misconceptions that they chew cud. In reality, hyraxes are NOT CUD-CHEWERS!!!!
