Part of a bigger piece that I'm working on, but I was so satisfied with how it came out that I wanted to upload it! Wind Waker's arguably my favorite out of the LoZ series, so Toon Link holds a special place with me. I wanted to create something that captured the look of the official game art while somewhat in my own style.Texture [link] provided by

Thanks for your feedback, I definitely appreciate your time, critiques and compliments. It has come up on here, and on several other places online, but I will just say this: I chose Link's facial expression, and it was not a result of any lack of facial expression mastery. This WW piece serves as part of a bigger piece I'm working on and with the current aim of that, the smile, eyebrows, etc. are all currently intentional - they may change, nothing's set in stone yet.

My first critique. Hope it's good.
- first, I say shading would be good. Yea, you did some but I can't see the wrinkles in his tunic or the shine on his sword
-I like how you invented his shield. Hylian is ok but new is always better.
-link looks kinda mad. Give him more expression when he's walking. He should be happy since he saved zelda how many times now.
-I like how you gave it that old look. It shows that link has been brought a lot and will be through much more.
-why no background? It paints the picture much better
-his form looks great. That is what I think you mastered.
-you mastered the hands as well. I don't know how to make hands as great as you do!
-all in all, nothing is perfect! You can improve your work little by little and make it a true master piece.

Hey! Thanks for taking the time out to give a proper critique. I'd like to start by saying I greatly appreciate your time.
1. There are some aspects of the shading that I feel need to be better developed, so I agree with you.
2. I can hardly take credit for the shield, it's the Mirror Shield featured in The Wind Waker. I love the design nonetheless!
3. Maybe he's mad that he's had to save Zelda and Hyrule so many times now?
4. Thanks! The old look ties into bigger plans for this piece.
5. No background - to reference answer #4, I am planning on making a big piece and this Link is merely a part of a much bigger piece I'm currently working on.

I'm sure you're referring to the split timelines that were established in Hyrule Historia - the Adult Timeline title is referring to the path of Adult Link set in Ocarina of Time. Just because it's called the 'Adult Timeline' doesn't mean that every incarnation of Link thereafter must also be an adult.

You bring up a lot of good points - at the end of the day, people are entitled to think and say what they like. And at the end of the day, if I'm happy with how a drawing came out, then that's all that matters to me.

I really like how well your style meshes with the look of the official art; it's got all the flavor of Wind Waker, but with extra detailing and a certain appealing chunky look that goes well with the feel of the game. The detail done with thin lines on the sword and shield is great.
Wind Waker is arguably my favorite as well (OoT is a very, very close second), and I'm glad to see such a great portrait of Toon Link; I'll be looking forward to the larger piece!
