This picture makes me sad. Her loneliness, the total lack of enjoyment, not only in the face of the child, but in the whole scene. It's as if she inherited the world but has no-one to share it with.
For the composition, I understand why you positioned the pole in the front. But I have the feeling it's to close to the child's face. This part of the image is a bit messy. It's somewhat disturbing. Still, I like the rithm of the vertical lines in contrast to the horizontal movement which the animals make. The contrast works well from right to left (dark to light).

as for the pole - it was a shot within seconds - the look of her was not lasting. if i had the time, i wouldn't have had the pole there
