Aww...well, I'm going from the perspective that maybe Usagi has gotten tired of being a complete pushover when she's herself, and she wants to get some self-confidence outside of when she's got the tiara on, some self-confidence that will help her get better at a few other things besides being a Sailor Scout, get good at some things that would only the realm of her civilian self, Usagi. After seeing Sailor Jupiter box with the Snow Queen, Usagi decides to ask Makoto-chan to instruct her on the sport too to try it for getting self-esteem, spending LOTS of time in the gym with Makoto-chan first, and sparring with Makoto-chan, and Makoto-chan helping her get accustomed to getting hit if possible, before she spars with anybody else and gets ready for her first fight.

her great physeque is as powerful as all my oc's put together, but especially strong points in them all are speed, skill, poise, good posture, total control, punching power and always good in the wrestling style of boxing as well, i'd love to be seeing more women in the ring do that more, and other tasks with boxing gloves on their hands, it'll be quite a challenge.

Don't know about punching power. She would be boxing in her civilian form, as Usagi. A 'swarmer' is what I see Usagi, as a boxer, as. Being only 4'11" to maybe 5'0" or 5'1" in height, she would almost always, unless boxing with most other Japanese schoolgirls her age, would be the shorter fighter and so having to spam punches and get inside, into 'phonebooth'/clinching range, to try and take away a taller opponent's height advantage. She would lack brutal punching power too, IMO. Usagi, as a boxer, would HAVE to 'grind down' opponents by constantly spamming them with punches. She would have amazing speed though, and likely her fear of getting knocked into next week and maybe put unconscious so bad she wakes up in the locker room would spur her on to throw, throw, and THROW to overwhelm her opponents with offense.

i think that was kind of what i was thinking about, but it got just a tad wierd, i better myself with letting what i call 'endurence etiquette' come into it, that's what all japanese girls in a school might look forward to, this one we talk about, is just 4' 11 1/2" and she is purely a top class and well flexible athlete, thai-boxes, and does boxing and kickboxing, can dodge, weave, block, parry, cross, jab, hook and uppercut, also slip when its required, she never lets her guard down, always fights dressed in combat gear outside school, in her school uniform in school, if she is in a gym, that is a stones throw from the community, it is shorts crop-top trainers that's how it is and is boxing gloved up, 24/7, even in school, she is allowed and that makes her feel good and superb at all subjects in their class. shows also she is always, in a bout, in your face, be like mike tyson, as much a perfect thrower of punches, also can be a touch grind to opponent down type, able to beat the bigger opponent as well, sharper in offense, and rougher in defence.

I haven't seen much of Sailor Moon, but I do know that outside battle Beryl's minions, Usagi tends to be a ditzy coward, at a glance.
As for civilian opponents, Melissa Mao from Fullmetal Panic! comes to mind.
I wouldn't mind sparring a few rounds with Usagi, though- put her through her paces.

Well, that was just in the first season. I've seen more of the show and when she doesn't have the tiara on, yeah she is clutzy and ditzy and fearful and stays that way much of the time. However, when the tiara goes on, she very much becomes a different person, her cowardice disappears especially beyond the first season, against new, more dangerous enemies than Beryl and her minions.
I would imagine that a reason for her wanting to give boxing a try is as a way to force herself as Usagi, not Sailor Moon, to learn to not cry so much and to give her Usagi persona confidence in something beyond her Scout duties, to show herself she can be just as strong inside without the tiara on as she is with it on, and that she can do something without her Scout powers and then maybe try other things without them.

A good idea for it. It's all too easy for someone in that position to think that it's their other sides that are more prevalent: In this case most people would think that Sailor Moon makes Usagi worth while, but in trying to make herself worth while, that's good bits of character development. All heroes, great or small started off the same way- as ordinary people.

Mine and 's argument that she actually could become a good boxer is that firstly, her clumsiness has probably already toughened her up to where she could actually take clean punches surprisingly well for her size and possibly the fear of getting her face busted up from a lot of punishment driving her to spam opponents with punches, let her gloved fists go completely.

Seriously when a 14 year old ditzy crybaby (took that straight from the series description) that happens to be a gamer and a glutton (considering all the times I saw her eat in the few episodes I've watched) can kick a SSB fighter's ass in the "squared circle", then it can get pretty scary.
