I have been getting more into his work recently..but as a boy I preferred every other TARZAN artist. I first gave him a second look..when I read a short article by Alex Toth - praising his work!

I'd never heard of him, ill certainly look out for him more, the only Tarzan artist im not to fond of is Burne Hogarth i never liked his stiff geometric figure-work

I used to love Hogarths Tarzan, I was blind to the stiffness of his work and so became a stiff artist myself. His stuff is very intricate and mannered and over detailed and that is what attracted me..and he knew anatomy. John Buscema says he learned his Anatomy from Hogarth.
There is a fascinating clip on you-tube of Buscema, Hogarth and [I think] Druillet on a French TV show in the 1970's - each does a live sketch.
My favourite Hogarth work is an Italian reprint collection of the early Tarzan Sundays..at a time when his work had not strayed so far from the Hal Foster approach.
I now prefer Russ Mannings TARZAN.

I think ive seen some of those french videos but none with Hogarth or Buscema ive not seen much Russ Manning art i know he has a lot of fans, but the work ive seen is again quite stiff so ive never really followed it, ive seen a few Foster Tarzan pieces and the gorgeous Price Valiant work im definitely a fan, the only other Tarzan artist i know is Kubert whose work i love and JB did a Tarzan miniseries for Marvel that i liked

I think we have different criteria as regards what is stiff?
I like both Kubert and Manning and I recognise that Kubert's style is looser than Mannings but I still love Mannings style..which is also similar to Steve Rude's.
