 I actually have a Makorra fan page and I made a post asking if ‘there are any Makorra fans who r LGBT members?’ And I got so many replies that said ‘yes’. That made me so happy, anyone who ships Makorra is a friend to me. I’ve got nothing against Korrasami; but Makorra forevermore!!!

I AM A DIE HARD MAKORRA FAN. And I always will be. While I'm not against Korrasami or the fact that it's a same sex couple, I'm still to this day angry, hurt and broken up by the ending. I loved Makorra from book 1-4 and I still refuse to lose hope in them getting back together. And I feel that even as I say these things, people try to throw the facts back at me about 'Korrasami being canon, Makorra is dead (stated by Bryke 😡) almost as a way to prove me wrong or to stop me from believing in Makorra rekindling. And the worst part is when people that is as a sign of homophobia; WHICH IS NOT TRUE AT ALL. That to me is hurtful and needs to stop immediately. If Korrasami was really their plan from the beginning then they should've written it better, heck if it started in book 1-4 I would've felt differently, at least I would've seen the development, but they didn't it was focused on Makorra. And even when they broke up there were still signs of Mako (and Korra) still having feelings for each other. But NO!! Bryke completely crushed Makorra and even took it as a joke (their Hetero lenses remark) and I will never EVER forgive them for that. I'm not homophobic, I'm not denying Korrasami is canon, but people can NOT tell me to stop shipping or believing in Makorra just because Bryke say so, and I still feel that Korrasami was pure fan service. Which is why I feel it would've been better if no one in TeamAvatar ended up together and instead went to the spirit world together to make up for lost time, at least it would've been an even draw for all ships. I'm sorry for the long comment but that is how I feel and I never felt so cheated and betrayed in my life and I really hope Bryke know this. They need to stop f***ing around with the fans and the ships. And the Makorra haters needs to just back off.

I just think had Korra and Mako had a better chance to slow down and had better development, something beautiful could have blossomed and either ship truly had a chance had the limitations not been set on the series from the get-go. My gripe is truly the limitations tacked onto the show before it actually had a real chance.  If book 1 had more chances to flesh out the storyline and the characters, I think Makorra could have been pretty solid without the goofy drama. Same with Korrasami and honestly, I was one of the people who saw some missed opportunities that could have given Korrasami a better chance. Honestly speaking, I want to take the time one day to explore both relationships and expand on them fully in my own story. 

Also, yes, this whole Korrasami vs Makorra nonsense needs to stop. As far as I am concerned people can look at both as canon couples from separate parts of the show and build from there. For example, Book 4 was for Asami and Korra and it could have been a 'What if' scenario. Book 1 was for Mako and Korra and again it could be a 'What if' scenario if these two decided to stay together. Honestly speaking, I would have preferred for all of the characters to have a chance to venture out and date other people who aren't in the same Avatar gang whether they chose to explore their sexuality with the same sex or the opposite sex. I don't know, it just seems sloppy to me to have the characters date only within their group and not explore more (granted, yes, time was limited). But I think that would have given them more experience relationship-wise. Asami is a gorgeous and intelligent woman, so it seemed odd to me that she didn't play the field a bit more. Mako is a gorgeous guy with apparently some social issues, so I have no idea why him being popular with the ladies wasn't explored further (they did it for Sokka and Aang had a couple of girls who had a crush on him). Then there is Korra who basically was home-schooled so her social interactions are pretty limited as well. This is something I want to eventually put into a fanfiction at some point.

As far as Katara and Aang...I was pretty underwhelmed with the end, and I did not want the series to end with Katara and Aang kissing. I do think they are cute together, but their relationship was kind of hamfisted to be honest. I think it would have been better if they didn't kiss at all, but looked on toward the horizon and held hands or made a promise to each other to be the best they can be. These are just a few examples. 

On the whole shipping wars...There are primarily Anti-korrasami and some Makorra fans who placed some really weak arguments about Korra and Asami implied relationship at the end. I merely shook my head and yes, some came off as being homophobic, some just in denial, and others who were merely upset that the story did not end the way they were expecting it.  The last two I can sympathize with a bit, but not the ones who said that it's wrong for Korra and Asami to be a couple because they are the same sex. And if anyone is curious, I am honestly not a shipper of Korrasami myself, but lets be honest, there were signs some are arguably ambiguous, subtext and all. But there is no way the last episode can be ambiguous, especially the ending. So that's my thoughts on it. I do support Korrasami because I want the girls to be happy and it's good the LGBT community have a main character to relate to. But I wasn't feeling the ending myself because I felt it overshadowed the overall message of the series as a whole, especially knowing the whole relationship fiasco with all three love-lorn characters involved. Also, I do feel sympathetic to Mako who almost died for the cause. (I'm glad he did not die, personally)

Mako in book two (even though I see a lot of potential in Mako as a character and I actually kind of like him) pissed me off. Considering mess he got himself into by not telling the truth and kissing Asami...I think that was just for the drama and not clear character development. I think Mako is a pretty smart guy who would learn from his lessons, but that wasn't the case when he kissed Asami not long after he and Korra broke up. I'm like...Why is this happening again? Mako, did you not learn your lesson. Then Asami....I don't know about her, but if a guy who I've dated originally showed me the issue with our relationship the first time, yet I get involved with him again despite him breaking up with his girlfriend makes her seem a bit desperate (by no means am I calling Asami desperate, but the way they wrote her made her seem as if she did not learn her lesson from her last time with Mako). At the very least, wouldn't there be some sort of awkwardness or some apprehensiveness to patch up a relationship that they know did not work very well the first time? 

Before I get too far in my narrative rant, I just want to say that I do support both ships, I just want someone to portray it better. Also, the ending...Nothing against Korrasami, but I feel it would have been better if the show ended with Korra coming to terms with herself as the new avatar. She has been through a lot and is still going through a lot. She had the hardest time getting in touch with her spirituality because she was such an earthly person. The ending I had in mind was that Korra would travel into the spirit world and is greeted by the spirits along with Aang and the rest of the Avatars in the past. I think this could have marked a new start for her. 

I think I might play with Tahno and Korra as a crackfic for my own entertainment (and I'm not a supporter of them, but I think their interactions would be pretty funny. ) My plan now is to build two separate stories where Makorra can grow as a pair and one where Korrasami can go as a pair.

I love Makorra. ANd I do Makorrasami Poly as a compromise where Korra's in a romantic relationship with Mako and Asami. And Mako and Asami are just friends to each other. I mostly just like and ship Korrasami for LBGT rep. As... I just like Asami at most and I never liked Masami or Korrasami as romances.
