Description Finally, my first attempt at vexelling a car is done. I think I've spent something around 30 hours doing this. I still hate how the headlights came out, but I was getting upset about it so I decided to just submit it anyway. Don't think I can do much better than that, at least for now.

The car is the new Nissan Skyline (which they're not calling Skyline anymore, but it's the closest thing we'll get to a successor). I wanted to see how it would look in blue, since it doesn't seem like Nissan will be releasing the car in that color. Which really pissed me off, because it's THE color that comes to my mind whenever I think about the older Skylines, especially the R34.

I did this following ~me-myself 's very good vexel tutorial .

Update: changed the background to a simple gradient to make the car stand out more. If you want to see the version with the different background, check it out here: [link]

I have to agree with you on that one. But I wanted to prove that a blue R35 would look much better then the silver one they always make a point of displaying.
BTW, sorry for the oh-so-late reply to your comment, heheh.

looks great but i think you should just go with a plain white mackground> always makes the car stand out alot better> the gradient just kind of kills it 4 me but thats just me>

Finally finished eh? Brilliant mate, it looks awesome, the rims and wheels are just as good as i was expecting, if not better.

For a first try thats very good indeed, much better than my first.

My 2c, i think it would look better with a plain background, with just a shadow on a gradient or some studio like setup.

Much congrats, you've outdone yourself and deserve another

Heya! Thanks a lot I did consider using just a plain gradient as the background, but I could not produce something that looked presentable. So I decided to move away from the mainstream a little bit and use something different for the background.
Thanks a lot for the fav!

Ahh now thats such a much more complimenting background. Too much background work going on detracted from the real subject of the 'GT-R' before, this time it looks much better. Great stuff

It's a brilliant first atempt, man!
And the headlights look great to me!
You drew and color the rims awesomely! I really suck at those @____@
So they ain't calling it a skyline anymore? Well, since the looks of the car are totally not what I was hoping; I think that's perfectly fine with me...

Thanks a lot! And thanks for the fav Yeah I heard they're only calling it the "Nissan GT-R" from now on. Fine with me too, since it doesn't look the least bit like the original Skylines.
And I was pretty pleased with how the rims came out too I think they're the most realistic part about the whole thing.

I c u updated the pic following Bondy's advice; but IMO u should go even simpler. I think a one-color gradient would be better cuz as of now it looks like a barren plain or a unfinished background and makes the car look too lonely and the mood is a bit uhmmmm... boring... even if the subject matter is nicely rendered. If u were to use just one color, say a vivid blue or gray/white, ppl understands it as a "setup" and thus concentrates on the car rather than the negative space

I know what you mean, but I think that only two colors will look a bit too simplistic, while what I wanted was to make it a little more colorful
