Goodness, thanks again! Haha you must have read my mind about the paper and backgrounds...
I find each paper has to be approached differently. If you switch from one to another , it can throw you off a little, til you remember what to do.

No worries! Yes you are right, no-one would believe what a difference the paper makes.... I've dabbled a bit myself blacksheepart.deviantart.com/g…
They say you should never "...blame your tools" etc.... but really having the right kind of pencils makes all the difference...
I've not put the rest of my trad art up yet... but I got quite far and found a solution by using stretch drawing paper (so you can use watercolour, gouache etc...) so large areas you can paint, and still use your coloured pencil for all the detail and control.
