Happy Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day, everybody! My niece was born today, so I have a legitimate reason to really celebrate this day.

Today’s the start of the White/Metal Tiger Year, and I thought that I should commemorate the event with some artwork, so here is my contribution. Yes, the sketch was already in my sketch folder, but still… I actually decided to colour it!

I wish people would mention the element when it comes to this stuff. Metal Horse and Fire Horse are not the same. The elements have their own colours, hence the Metal Tiger being a white tiger. Metal is white, fire is red, water is black, earth is brown, and wood is green. Don’t ask me… Another thing is that most people only know their year sign (some get it wrong because they think it starts on January 1st), and don’t know their month, day or hour sign. These signs are also important!

Here, I’ve used three different generators. The first one was [link] the second one was [link] and the third one was [link] On the second one, it says that the Day Sign represents YOU, while the Year is for ancestors, the Month for parents and the Hour for kids. I’ve also read that Year = outward personality, Month = how you want to be, and Hour = inner personality. I can’t remember what the Day Sign was supposed to be… I’ve no idea which one is accurate… this is confusing!

Year sign = 1990 = Yang/Male White/Metal Horse

The Year Sign: “Represents your childhood environment, the effects of which you can carry through life. Grandparents, lineage and how you are viewed by society.”

Month sign = September 10th = Yin/Female Green/Wooden Rooster/Chicken

The Month Sign: ”Your relationship with Parents, peers and business talents.”

Day sign = 10th = Yang/Male Brown/Earth Tiger

The Day Sign: “Your inner self, branch represents marriage.”

Hour sign = 08:02 = Yang/Male Red/Fire Dragon

Hour Sign: “Children, old age, siblings, lovers and sex.”

2012 is actually the Year of the Water Dragon, which is interesting. 2000 was the Year of the Metal Dragon, though people called it the Year of the Golden Dragon.
