I enjoy viewing sketches as well, sometimes even liking them over the finished work. I believe I recall reading something about how sketches are sort of able to trick the human eye into seeing motion which might explain it, granted I'm not sure how true it is.

totally agree. The images always loose some life and movement when they move onto their finished form.
