Something I drew for the Neopets Art Gallery!I'm not too sure whether I should wait for Discovery of Meridell Day to submit it LOL but I'll just upload it first I guess...
I thought I should probably try to practice backgrounds BECAUSE I'M SO INEXPERIENCED WITH THEM AHAHAH and it took a while only because most of the landscape was done in one layer... I was trying to kill two birds with one stone trying to practice that too LOL although it was really just a serendipity that I happened to go over my drafty colours in detail on one layer.

I like the Draik and the shape and shading of the tree-branches, and that rich evening glow of light. I'm not quite sure about how the angle on the Meridell castle came out, but I like the winding path rippling over the hills, the slight curve of the world in the distance, and that glow from the sunset gettign more luminous and taking more of the landscape's color palette as we near its source. (Is it a sunset? I was thinking it was because I see sunsets more often than I see sunrises with the really rich buttery gold color coming from 'em.) It really is lovely, and if this is how your work looks when you're not confident in your backgrounds, the world had better watch out as you level up! <3

Late, but congratulations on the well-deserved DD! I was blown away when I saw this in the Neo AG; the lighting is gorgeous and the composition's very striking, drawing the viewer into the scene's calm warmth and serenity. I really like the way you've shaped the branches with their uneven bumps and ridges, and how they frame the valleys below; I also like the way the thicker branches nearer the viewer are darker than the one pointing towards the light. I love the light on the branches and the hazy glowing light shining on the paths and the castle below; the whole atmosphere is strikingly beautiful, with a quiet energy that pervades and warms the scene.
The lighting and detail in your work is amazing, thank you for your stunning contributions to the Art Gallery and for sharing your other work as well

You're welcome, you deserve compliments for your great art! (haha I need to draw more of my neopets in general, I almost never draw them, only random pets for pet days... I'm apparently much more into coming up with generic oneshot doodles than getting invested in character customization and development heh.)

Haha yeah, I swear the creative contests that give item prizes are one of the most lucrative rackets on the site if you figure out how to win them regularly (i.e. just keep submitting)
