Whoaaa, that is... One big 'shroom! Definitely a striking design reminiscent of a pitcher-plant / something NSFW!
At first I thought that the alder tree was to scale, but then I noticed the scale in meters on the left--is this large megalophore then about 30 meters tall?

Anyway, I think the concept of a mushroom-derived oil being the fantastical resource of your setting is really cool, and is not something I've seen done before either!

Thank you for this nice comment! I think l have been a bit shy with the scale, as my alder tree is 5m tall (which is very small as they can grow up to 20-30 m), l imagined the highest megalophores to be like sequoia trees, and to grow up to 80 m, maybe l should make a little modification...

Wow! That's more like what I was imagining when I saw the illustration... A giant, towering structure poking up through a misty swamp.

Something that occurred to me too (which may not be the case at all here, but I think the concept could be interesting) is that given the mealophore's oil is used to facilitate airship flight, perhaps it serves a similar purpose inside the organism and allows it to grow very tall without being as rigid a structure as a sequoia, since its weight is partially supported by the field it generates.

I think I will change the scale of these pictures from 0 to 25 by steps of 5m. It will be more impressive! I didn't imagined that the oil could help the flying, it is due to a special kind of ore, (like magnetism in metal) but when l think about your idea, I realize it would have been way simpler but still logical to my story, as nothing explains how the megalophore structure is not crushed by its own weight!

Ah, I see, the oil is used to fuel engines, but itself does not provide the lifting effect (do S-reactors need the oil to operate though?)

I also went with a special ore for my lift-generating mechanic, though like the source of oil in your universe, there are some unique aspects of my ore I would like to show in detail at some point!

Anyway, if you like the idea of the megalophore negating some of its own weight via lift, perhaps its mycelium is able to leech small amounts of the lifting ore and distribute it throughout the fungal tower structure? (And correspondingly, larger 'phores could be a sign of a rich ore deposit!)

The lifting effect is provided by the ore, but the reactor needs electricity to change the altitude. The electricity is provided by an alternator which run with the oil!

I do love your idea about the megalophore being able to reach some incredible size thanks to the ore. First it explains why it is rare to find huge one outside of specific areas, secondly it makes their region even more strategic, as the ore extraction would also be in the same place. Thanks for that!

Gives a whole new meaning to magic mushroom! Very imaginative!😊

Thanks! It's good for the planet but has given severe hallucinations to several aircraft crews!

Hopefully the aircrews do not nibble on the magic mushroom while flying! Wait until the end of a successful mission and enjoy them in a Bistro with cognac celebrating!😊
