Description
The concept of latching support craft to larger ships is not new - but to date no one has tried (at least in the PDS universe) something as ambitious as using a converted interstellar liner as a tender for military fast attack ships.

This old Nalthoran liner, long since retired from her duties as a fast spacelift vessel in the Hiigaran Naval Coalition, had been sent to reinforce the Ravinder Exile Fleet in a programme similar to the Lend-Lease of World War Two in our world. Renamed by Visaya Gita as the Hajjah Piramesse, she now serves as the flagship for the Exile Fleet and deployed the bulk of the Ravinder Planetary Army's Air Battle Force into the atmosphere of her homeworld after space superiority was achieved.

Resistance was light and the Air Battle Force supported by Exile Fleet's orbital bombardments swiftly neutralised enemy defenses but fell victim to overextension and overexaustion of their combat power - as a result the Vagyr Crusaders' feint retreat and following counteroffensive made good progress before being stalled by Admiral Melarn Soban's Ferin Sha.

During the Crusader counteroffensive the Piramesse faced off with the battleship Nataraja and was crippled, while both the aerial assault ships that she deployed into Ravinder's atmosphere were lost in combat action during the 2 days of airmobile campaigns against the defenders.

It should be noted that while the Nalthoran armed liners were armed up to heavy cruiser standards, the Piramesse's cruiser tender configuration does not allow for use of the midships mount heavy plasma cannon arrays - these were thus removed in favour of medium range anti-starship missile launchers while directed energy firepower is provided by the pair of cruisers.

Once the cruisers are launched the Piramesse is able to deploy her battery of up to 6 "Dragon Lance" nuclear-powered strategic particle beam weapons.
