Description
The shower in the room next-door shuts off and I can hear the curtain being pushed to the side. My ears wait for the sound of the door opening. The footsteps passing my door. And the sounds of Noah humming quietly to himself.
But it hasn't come y- Oh. Wait. There it is. This time he's humming a tune I don't recognize. But it sounds sweet.
My back is starting to ache, in it's position pushed up against the door. I shift slightly and lean my head back against the door.
I wait for the footsteps to fade before standing and opening my door slightly.
I stick my head around my door and glance down the hall. Since there's no one there, I walk out of my room and close my door quietly. I sneak (what I hope is quietly) down the hall and into the living room. My breath catches as I see Noah sitting in my faded blue chair. His towel is wrapped around his neck and his hair is still dripping wet from his shower. I blush, envying my friend for getting to spend most of his time with him. I sighed sadly, and rolled my eyes at myself. I knew he and I would never be able to be together.
But I mean, seriously, I could at least imagine us... Right? I mean, imagination isn't a bad thing.
I found myself walking closer to Noah. I'm not sure why I did...
Noah's breathing was slow, as if he was asleep. His head leaned to the side.
I smiled to myself and leaned down to his level. My head came closer to his and I found myself blushing. I placed a hand on the arm of the chair to keep balance and placed my lips gently against his as a tear slips down my cheek. We, us, it was never meant to be.

Little did I know... he wasn't actually asleep.
