Before I say anything else, I'd like to issue a statement regarding resource images: as I have been taught in my AP 2-D design class, there is nothing wrong with using a resource image, however, one must successfully reinterpret or recontexturalize the resource image--or those that are published, unpublished images or ones you took yourself are okay. Recontexturalizing may mean changing colors, background, facial expressions, etc. When I recontexturalize for fanart, I take the pose and leave it, but change expressions and characters to match my fandom. I copy shadows and highlights, but may add in other elements or draw in different clothing. The result is not a direct copy, but something that was influenced by the original image. It may be more noticeable in something like fanart, or less apparent in a portrait.

Resource images are a way of building poses and characters and shadows into your head, if like most of us, you cannot draw a perfectly correct, proportioned, and shaded human body for JUST out of your head.

That being said, my resource from this piece is ironically a Fate/Stay Night fanart found here: [link] . As you can see, I have totally changed the fandom, turned the head of the left figure to profile, added in a window and some lighting, and made the expressions more to my liking and style. However, your opinion may differ on my choice of using a resource image. I shall remind you that I am in no way claiming this particular pose of the bodies. I don't claim deciding where to shade. I don't claim Ed or Alphonse. I don't claim FMA or F/S N. All I can claim is a tablet, CS2 and what I hope are drawing and coloring skills.

Now on to the actual comments!

I saw this picture and HAD to draw elricest from it, fluffy, 'we just woke up together' morning love. I like morning themes in my elricest, but the green color was just because I'm feeling 'green' at the moment.

I'm pretty pleased with it, although I wasn't sure in the beginning. I hope y'all like it too!

I say it's perfectly fine to take references of whatever you need. Especially if you aren't confident enough to build your own structure yet. I used to do that all the time, years ago. Go you for your honesty and such awesome picture
