Description

I made another species my god i'm so sorry. ;____;
I came up with this today to help get rid of my art block and it sort of worked?? I did some adopts for these as well - the blue on on there will be up for OTA I think. I think I'm going to abandon Konoas and Piawens for the moment and focus on these because they're the most original thing I've thought up in awhile lmao
If you think these look like another species, please please please don't say anything. I worked really hard on these and I don't care for comparisons ;o; If they look like another thing, well... idk I don't mind hahaha. These babes are mine ♥

THIS IS A CLOSED SPECIES.

Diggers are a quadruped species that live to dig in mines and caves for exquisite gems and ores. They use the bulb on their head to view dark areas underground and they use their giant front claws to dig holes and find gems.

APPEARANCE
A Digger has a lean, long body that helps them in being flexible, to get to smaller caves and areas underground. Their front legs are stocky and strong, which helps them dig faster and for longer. Their front legs gradually get larger over time from all the work that they do. Their back legs are lean and small, as they aren't used as nearly enough as the front legs.
A Diggers tail is extremely long and very fluffy, although the fluffiness and length can vary from Digger to Digger. The tail is used to warm up the body, and because of the length and how soft and airy they are, they can easily wrap around a Diggers body. Their manes are used in the same way, as to warm up their faces and torso. A lot of their body heat derives from their chest and neck and spreads over their body.
They have flat large heads with a large bulb on the top of their heads. Bulbs can change size but never shape. They're extremely bright and glow very far. Diggers have large dog like noses that are quite dull in sense, and they have excellent sight. Most Diggers have half open eyes, as they are usually underground and never really have to focus too much with sight. But they can also have very open eyes. Diggers have snaggle teeth at the ends of their mouths, and lots of hidden teeth inside of their mouths.
Because Diggers have dew claws and sharp main claws, they're able to use their front paws to create great and intricate items and accessories. They have an eye for detail, and definitely create fantastic items.
A Diggers appearance will be the same for all Diggers - with the exception of females being slightly smaller than males, and that they have smaller bulbs on their heads. Females tend to have smaller front legs and paws because they're usually found in their homes creating things or taking care of their young. Females also usually look less grumpy/tired, and are more energetic.

DIET
Diggers are strictly herbivores. Females will go gather herbs for meals, and grow vegetables and fruits, as well as forage for nuts and berries. Diggers are easily dehydrated and usually carry a water pack or a pack of water chestnuts when they go mining.

HABITAT
Diggers always live above ground just near mines and caves. They create homes out of straw and dirt, similar to natives. They usually are found in dense forests and sometimes uneven fields. They are never found in rocky crags or areas without greenery, as they survive off green foods.

MATING / LIFESPAN / GROWTH
Diggers mate once a year and will often birth up to 5 pups. They reach sexual maturity around the age of 16 years. Diggers have the same lifespan as human beings, and generally the same growth rate as them too. However, Diggers grow larger around the ages of 2 and 4, and stop growing around age 18. They are the same size as an average Labrador, but can grow to the size of a Great Dane at full height.

PERSONALITY / SOCIAL / INTELLIGENCE
Diggers are very placid and social creatures. They will often keep to themselves but interact with other local species for trades and selling of goods, and usually tend to keep contact with individuals they trade with the most. They're very friendly, open, and caring. They're extremely revolving around family, and when another Digger passes on, they tend to hold huge ceremonies celebrating the life of their loved ones. Diggers are extremely intelligent and talk in fluent English, but also have their own language that is traditional. They usually talk in their language at social events.
