Description I tried something weird and new here. Didn't work out like I'd hoped, but I learned a lot while doing this and the next attempt will definitely be better.

I put the digital coloration right over my pencil sketch.

It's supposed to be a portrait of the Flareon on my current team, Eonrising. I found this Flareon at level 5 on my LG cartridge, with no recollection whatsoever of how it got there. The name sounds like something I would have given a randomly-hatched Eevee that I had no plans for. Then maybe I Fire Stoned it on a whim for the sake of my Pokedex and forgot about the poor little guy.

At any rate, he's a good battler, as Eeveelutions always are. Flareon is my absolute favorite of the Eeveelutions. Since I was just a young kid having fun with Pokemon for the first time, I always imagined Flareon as being stocky and thickly-built, for some reason. Jolteon I always saw as long-legged and graceful, and Vaporeon as slender and sleek. But Flareon always seemed solid to me. So if my interpretation of its body type seems strange, that's why. Perhaps it was the impressive Attack and ho-hum Speed stat that gave me this impression.

Anyway, this piece pretty much boils down to me trying once again to do something to kick this nasty art block.

Mechanical pencil, Paint Shop Pro 7, touch-pad.

He's so cute! Flareon was always one of my favorite pokemon too. So good of you to rescue him from an old game. I'm always doing that with mine, so pretty soon my diamond boxes will be filled!

Alas, I haven't the money for a DS or D/P. But my LG cartridge is quickly starting to fill with random Pokemon from here and there.

I know nothing about Pokemons, but your lineage of this cute little creature was amusing anyway. It's great. I like the shading you did, this is excellent digital work even if it left you feeling like you wanted to explore further and do something cooler. I'm looking forward to your next! Yay for breaking your art block!

Thanks, Robert. I'll definitely be working with this technique some more, improving it.

Very cute.

Little fun things can be good for kicking art block.

Thanks, glad you think so! I want to experiment more with this digital-over-pencil-sketch thing.

Ohmygod, I love the hair! And those are some darn cute paws. You always draw cute paws. >_>

Haha, thank you! I've been worried because my paws aren't particularly realistic, so it's nice to hear that they're cute, at least. ^^

Thank you! I remember other kids poking fun at my "fat" Flareons in grade school for this interpretation, so that's nice to hear. (Er... Read!)

wow that's great Peach! n_n! I love it! =3

Heh..I decided, that's how I'm always gonna do my digital pieces...I just can't draw plain digital. Dx

Thanks for the fav, Poo. You sure know how to encourage someone!

It's so much easier for me to sketch with a pencil than work purely digital, but it's nice not wasting art supplies with the coloration or worrying about the quality of the scan. The digital-on-sketch way seems like a good compromise.

You're welcome. :3 ...

Oh I know! My pencils are just running out too quickly now...-.-...my white, sand, and pale rose mainly...plus I can get colors in digital that I can't with my limited colors of pencils...

I go through certain colors of my markers at a frightening rate, too. It's comforting that digital color never "runs out" and seemingly has no limits.

I guess that would make sense for a finely built Flareon. The stats match up and make perfect sense. I guess you have a keen sense of following stats and appearances.

Thanks, Eclipsis. ^__^ I'm trying very hard to make sure my Pokemon work isn't just a mimicry of the official style, as it seems to have been in the past. I really like it when people infuse the Pokemon they draw with their own interpretation of the anatomy, as you do. So I'm trying to do that myself now.
