Description I have a bajillion homework assigments and tons of studying to do. So of course I stay up late drawing Pokemon.

Made with my usual: Prismacolor fine line archival quality pen, and Prismacolor markers.

I'm actually really pleased with this. It has some of my finest color blending, in my opinion. I went to town, especially on the black. Everything but the sky has purple blended into it, and there is yellow, gray, and orange in weird places. Overall, I'd call this a good digital representation of my work.

I have never particularly liked a starter Pokemon design... In fact, I've hated the starters of the past two gens entirely. I'm not thrilled with the other two fifth gen starters, but dangit... The fire piggy was love at first sight. Fire is my favorite starter type, and they look like little red river hogs , one of my favorite animals! Awwwww. They just make me happy. <3

Looks like these two found the world's most unnaturally flat cliffside to snuggle on.

This is so cute <3 I love the soft, warm feel of the coloring. Plus, two Pokabus snuggling is about as adorable as it gets xD

Thats pretty freakin' adorable, and I'm not one to usually fave cute pics although this one makes me smile.

I am amazed at your color blending skills with the prismacolor markers. I myself am trying to get better at using those markers but they bleed to much. I was wondering if you used a certain type of paper or technique to when using them.

Thanks for taking a moment out of your day to write me this lovely comment! Thank you ever so much.

I require a certain amount of bleed to blend and mix, so I purposely choose papers that bleed. But the paper does make a difference, so try them out on everything you can get your hands on until you find what you like. I did this particular piece on this stuff , which is super-thin but also highly responsive and wonderful for ink economy. You may or may not like it.

I definitely recommend putting something porous behind your paper when coloring, such as cardstock or cardboard. Don't use something non-porous like plastic or it'll send excess ink straight sideways, exacerbating the bleeding. As for my technique, I pretty much only use the fatty end and I soak the living hell out of the paper, blending and mixing wet-into-wet. Marker painting!

Thanks so much for the advice! I tried using them on paper over cardboard and could instantly see the difference. I'm going to experiment with different kinds of paper until I find one that suits my style. Again thank you so much!

Glad it helped. Took me a while to figure that out, but it really helped when I did! The difference is much more dramatic for thinner papers.

Awwww yay, they are really super adorable! You drew them looking so snuggly and stuff together. I love your good ol' marker drawings, though, because they look so vibrant! You're so masterful with them!

Awesome job on this little piggy! You certainly do it justice!

You're right. They do look like red river hogs! I assumed they were saddleback pigs, but I guess I was wrong

Peachfuzz In reply to rabid-riolu [2010-05-16 02:15:05 +0000 UTC]

I suppose they could be saddlebacks. But the long long ears and colors definitely remind me more of red river hogs.

At any rate, I'm glad to see a nice piggy Pokemon. Spoink and Grumpig weren't consistent with my tastes, and Mankey and Primeape are more monkey than pig. Here's hoping the little piggy starter gets some cool evolutions!

YAAAY YOU UPLOADED <3
I think second and first gen in that order were my most favorites and the others not as much . But you did an adorable job on the starters, the way people do their own versions of them also helps me to like them more ahaha. They look so adorable and shineh <3

Peachfuzz In reply to SingingRabbitSkull [2010-05-15 15:22:14 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. I was overtaken by a desire to draw fire piggies when I saw the designs revealed!

I like the first three generations. The fourth holds no sentimental attachment for me, but I think it has some cool Pokemon. For some reason, I'm pretty excited for the fifth. I know there's at least one Pokemon I'll like from it! Fire piggiiiiiiiiiiies

I actually like..can't remember the name but the first new 5th gen released the crazy fox lol it grew on meeeeeee. The fact the movie one is a momma also made that happen more so.

I can't believe how illuminated they look, wowzers. Although it looks like the light is shining on their cute little faces, even though the sun is behind them. Whenever you decide to start drawing with original characters again, it's going to be pretty danged amazing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Peachfuzz In reply to Sambev [2010-05-15 15:18:51 +0000 UTC]

Thaaaaaaanks! It was fun mooshing gray, purple, and yellow into everything. There is a glare on their faces from the camera, but I did blend Spanish Orange into the dark color on their faces. XD

Whenever I "decide" to start drawing with original characters again? The magnitude of this art block is such that I'm lucky to be farting out Pokemon here and there.

I love the warmth all of the colors give off as well as the warming glows of yellow and orange in the entire piece. The rock may be unnaturally flat, but boy it must be warm and cozy with those little fire piggies :3

Nice work!
