Iefyr was originally born into a poor family. His parents had already bared seven children before him and couldn't handle the burden of having another child on their strict financial situation. His mother loved him dearly however knew she wouldn't be able to provide for him like someone else might. They were forced to give him away for adoption when he was only two months old. The boy doesn't remember his time spent with his parents nor at the orphanage since it all happened before he turned one. However, just at the age of nine months, he was quickly adopted by an impotent couple who has been trying for a child for over ten years with no results to show. The couple never hid the fact he was adopted from him, actually, they always made sure the boy was proud of the fact and that they chose him out of all the other children.
The couple cared well for the boy for five years. They lived a simple life as rich family's servants, the wife acting as the lady's maid and the husband as the caves butler. During this time Iefyr was allowed to roam around the mansion and play with the couple's two children, whom he befriended quite quickly since they all grew up together. They were both only a year older than him, so whatever activities they got up to he was allowed to tag along to. He also attended classes with the kids after his parent begged the royal couple for weeks on end. He was a quick learner with lots of wit and it didn't go unnoticed by anyone who would spend more than a couple minutes in his presence. He had a big mouth on him and an equivalently big ego even as a small child. Because he was surrounded by high class and attitudes he naturally grew one of his own, no body around blamed him or told him to stop, so his behaviour continued.
When he turned six both of his parents have been fired from their jobs. The royal house didn't wish for anybody with common or uncommon type gemstones working for them, they considered it a 'sore sight' for whoever visited them who was of equivalent high status. Unfortunately Iefyr's adopted parents both had uncommon type gemstones and were forced to leave, the master of the house not caring about the 16 years they worked hard for. His mother begged the lady of the house to allow him to stay because of his rare gemstone type, as well as did her biological children who saw him more as a brother than just a friend. Reluctantly the woman gave into their pleas, promising his mother to give him proper education and care like she would for her own children.
For a year Iefyr hated the fact he left by his parents, the people who 'chose' him despite all other children they could have had, the people who cared for him and loved him and how he was yet again given away into someone's hands and expected to start treating them like his parents. Of course he didn't remember the first time around, but he still sometimes lamented over it. He was only a child and wanted love from his parents, his fear of abandonment became unbearable and he became more and more clingy to both his new mother and siblings, fearing that if he didn't spend all his time with them, they might grow bored of him and leave him in someone else's hands. For a good year he tried his best to adjust his personality, so that it would please everyone around him, he wanted for everyone to not just like him, but love, no, adore him or at least the idea of him. He finally settled on a humorous, yet elegant and well mannered act. The only thing that never seemed to change was his positive attitude towards learning although many lessons were added to his schedule after he joined the family. He got a proper etiquette teacher who mercilessly taught him for years and was able to critique the smallest mistake. It didn't bother the boy at all, he wanted to be the perfect child so he followed the orders as best he could.
The lady who took care of him was very loving towards all of her children, even Iefyr. She did her best to treat them all equally which the boy was beyond grateful for. His new siblings have not changed the way they treated him either. The three grew up together and developed a true bond just like any siblings did, of course they had occasional fights, but nothing that wouldn't be forgotten the next day. Life seemed simple and perfect. The memories of ones who adopted him crossing his mind much more rarely as time went by.
His new father visited the cave they called house rarely. He was mostly out on trips, visiting between worlds, no body truly knowing what he was getting up to except the fact it guaranteed money by the end. When he wasn't home there was no mention of him and Iefyl kept to that rule just like anybody else. If the master wasn't home, there was no mention of his existence. On the rare times he did came back to the multi leveled cave, he made it obvious he did not enjoy the boys presence. He would ignore the boy and only speak up to shout when he did something wrong. It was the one thing the young boy couldn't stand; he wasn't able to please someone. No matter how he changed or acted he was never once praised or appreciated. This sick cycle continued until his early teens.
Iefyl finally broke when he was 13 years old. The feeling of not being good enough to please someone made him lash out at his father while the two had a private talk. The teen enraged, explained his source of anger and asked why he wasn't good enough, despite his best tries to be perfect in every aspect. The old man didn't respond, instead promised the boy he will make him useful soon enough. Confused Iefyl left and ended their short yet significant interaction. Not long after this incident a typical party took place, styled after the Victorian Era of Earth, where his father would often visit and compliment their style and mannerisms, he wanted the party to be identical, perfect. At first the boy paid little to no attention to the party, which to him seemed like any other they ever held at the cave. The night ended short and guests slowly left, except those his father would do his usual business with and a couple human visitors. The boy could have never expected that was the night his second adopted father could have planned to sell his body for the night to the men, only they'd take him far away from home till the morning, or that from then on it would become every events ending that was ever held there. He could have never expected that was what his father deemed as him becoming finally 'useful'. Also he could have never expected this would continue until the very end of his teenage life, every weekend. It became a pastime.

As time went by for the teen he became much more self centered, being abused made him want to never want to please anybody but himself again in case they'd use his weakness like his father did. He still studied hard, but more so it'd serve as a distraction to his troubled thoughts than from general curiosity he was once as praised for as a child. It became slowly unbearable to see himself in the mirror and the person he became. What was happening led to paranoia and all mirrors in his room were at once removed, he even stopped ever creating crystals in case he'd see his reflection in them. But not all habits can be shaken off so easily. Even though he didn't want to please anybody anymore, he still sought out approval from his father.
Iefyr would always dress in posh yet elegant Victorian Era clothes and follow his father's instructions even if they were just to be 'useful'. After all, it was a sort of an income to the house and wasn't a complete waste of time in his eyes even if it made him sick to his stomach and made him despise his own reflection. After he realized it's getting him no where it was too late and he was stuck, not being able to say no nor being able to fix any of his relationships. Since no body liked him anymore nor his company he has decided to change himself again at the age of 17.
He kept working after events, but started telling others it was simply 'charity work'. He became much more open and spoken, and although not many enjoyed his pushing around or criticism, most of his old humour and some cheerfulness came along with it. He dedicated his free time to reading and studying literature, a choice his tutor was quite proud of instead of history which he previously thought he wished to study further. He tried to rebuild his relations with his mother and siblings and although it was a rough road he was determined to get through it. And in the midst of it all he met another Gemmadite, Lyari, who made his heart race and eyes spark. Soon enough he announced them a pair of mates.
