Description
This my version of the Aboriginal Creation Story of Sedna, Goddess of the sea.It was a visual for my World Religions class, and the story of Sedna was really twisted. Of course I had to draw it.
It began when two giant men emerged from the earth and married eachother. One of the men became pregnant, and the other sang him a song, causing his penis to devide. He then became a woman and gave birth to a little girl. She grew larger and larger and had a fetish for meat.
One night, her parents woke in horror to find her gnawing on their limbs. They took her in an umiak (a boat of skins) and pushed her into the water. She clung to the side of the boat, so they chopped off her fingers, which became whales, seals, walruses, and salmon. The giant parents were afraid so they rowed away into the night.
The girl sank to the bottom and became the demon girl Sedna, godess of the sea and sea creatures.

Interesting, I've actually never heard that version of the story before. It' neat how there can be so many different versions of the same story.
I really like that you've coloured the water red. It's very shocking and really portays the morbidity of the story.
