Old Gjirokaster is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and it felt an honour to be in such a marvellous, little-visited place upon which such a distinction had been bestowed. I was mesmerised by how the town crept up the valley - or rather slipped down the valley, as the oldest parts were at the top.
